With all the problems floating around about how to make the classes (especially the lower 'Street' classes) fair, what about a 'Wayne's Choice' class where Wayne would take bids from any manufacturer interested, for each piece of equipment in the system.
Example: If Kenwood won the bid for 'Head Unit' in whatever price range Wayne specified, those who would be competing in the 'Wayne's Choice' class would have to use a Kenwood Head unit model-xyz. Same for the amp, woofers, battery, interconnects, power wires, upgraded alternator, speaker wires, line amp, equalizer, etc...
This would mean that everybody in the 'Wayne's Choice' class would be using the same exact equipment, but the winner would obviously be the one with the best designed, and most well executed system install.
--> A crazy idea, sure, but this 'Wayne's Choice' class could be a cool addition to the rest of the classes, and the one who won in this class would definitely have some serious bragging rights as to who is the best system designer!
And the $cash$ from the 'Wayne's Choice' class winning bids would go toward the prize $$$$ for this 'Wayne's Choice' class, so it would be self-supporting!
or not...?

Definatly an interesting idea, i think there would have to be some sort of price cap put on before the equipment is chosen.

Yep, Wayne would have to put this to a vote or something to determine just what level of competition it should be as far as $, watts, # and size of woofers, wall, or no wall,etc...Sorry Nate if I stole your idea, I must have either missed that post, or forgotten the jist of the post.
Anyway, it is just another idea that may or may not happen, but I believe it could yield an interesting outcome if it ever materializes.

very similar to NASCAR's IROC races... same cars, same set ups.. it is up to the driver to win the race.. now it is up to the installer to win !

That is a pretty good idea. I would never compete in it becuase my truck wouldn't do anything against smaller hatchbacks, but it would be fun to watch. I don't think there would be two much competition except for at x3 events.

I think the competitors should be the ones deciding on the equipment through a vote. If Wayne chose the equipment, there could be manufacturers crying foul. They may make claims of favoritism or "favors" done in return for other favors. Keep the DbDrag ownership out of equipment selection and let the competitors choose. Sounds like the best way to go as far as I can see. Still might be problems.
How does IROC choose their cars? How do they select the manufacturer and model? Of course it's great publicity to get your car selected as their official car, so do the manufacturers pay money to NASCAR to use their cars? Is it a bid thing? If DbDrag had something similar, would the manufacturers have to pay DbDrag to use their products? Sounds like a lot of legal issues that might stem from something like that. You might want to check into that stuff and see if this is really feasable.
Can you imagine if the PGA all of a sudden started a few tournaments where the only clubs that can be used were Ping and the only ball played was Nike? I bet there would be a huge uproar from the other manufacturers.

...But not if they called it the 'PING/NIKE CHALLENGE', and both Ping and Nike were the highest bidders in that season to sponsor the whole event designed around using only equipment of the winning bid's sponsor, and for the purpose of testing only the skill of the players to adapt to a new, and given, golfing challenge.
but when I was posting this strand the reason I called it 'Wayne's Choice' was because it will be Wayne's@Choice if a class like this is to materialize!
There are several ways equipment could be chosen, but I was thinking that a 'bid' based class would possibly generate the most income for this specific class.
And as far as manufacturers getting upset, well, each manufacturer would have an invitation to join in the bid in each category where they make a piece of equipment, and there would always be the next season when they would have a chance to outbid the rest.

Yea, they'd probably tell us screw db drag. don't want to step on the wrong toes

Why would any manufacturer say "Screw DB Drag" when it is becoming a well known, world wide competition format.
Not being included in one out of ten - twelve categories isn't cause for that kind of attitude, rather it's cause to bid higher (thus increasing the pot for the winners in this class) so that in the next season it will be their equipment used in this very interesting and different class

Relax Scott, you know the class won't happen and if it did how many differant retailers would someone be willing to go to accumulate all these products?
It was however a very good smootch, smootch idea. Welcome home.

Tj, there is only one way I could be more relaxed
Now how could I possibly know something like that, -if I thought every good idea I read on Termpro was simply going to be ignored, I wouldn't bother to be on it!
...(at least I think it's a decent idea)
