All I am trying to get at is we need a class where you can be competitive with a limited number of equipment, it makes life fun. As far as being able to afford it 3 years ago.. yup, i could, I lived at home with my parents. Now i'm a full time college student, have a job, and also own my own house. You know how i afforded all the stuff in my car when i was in SS5-8? I racked up a bunch of credit cards and was in debt for years, I've finally got all that paid off, about 2 weeks ago i made the last payment. Its been a tough road getting back on top. Now i'm only trying to get a class implemented for us that can't afford a tow vehicle, trailor etc and still be able to compete. If no, I guess I'll just suck it up, get on with my life and watch from the sidelines. I'm not trying to get in any type of argument over this, just trying to find a way for everyone to compete in a sport that is enjoyed by all. So terry, have fun in 5-8, the 2001 street competitors have fun spending more money competing in a class you can't afford, and those that can't afford it, have fun watching. Bye.

That's a sad an unfortunate point. But, look at the flip side. 2002 street competitors have fun trying to catch up with former world champions that have $6,000 amps and vast resources of knowledge. I am fairly certain that a certain yellow CRX had a 155+ in it if an unfortunate incident hadn't of occured. It is impressive that you pulled yourself out of debt and are now on the upswing. But I just wanted to point out that trying to compete against people like you, Q or anyone else will entail many new competitors to go into debt as well.

Isn't that exactly what it takes to be competitive in the upper classes, lots and lots of expensive equipment?
So, in protecting the lowest class, you effectively bump some competitors out of the sport, unless they are also willing to commit a vehicle, and a whole lot more money than it would take for a new Street competitor to "catch up".

Yes, it's a double-edged sword. However, nobody says you have to run 8 amps in NW. It would be possible to compete on a local level without the heavy investment. There are also always many opportunities to purchase used equipment at substantially lower prices if money is a concern. My #1 thought is if money is so tight and such a concern then one shouldn't be focused on finals; rather should just enjoy the local scene and maybe help fund a team car.

Just for argument's sake, let's take Q's truck. I believe you were in the 155 range with the 2 Solo Baric's and the 4KW? Let's hypothesize a situation where Q becomes a NW force. Q uses the rear of his truck, and mounts either another 4KW, or sells his 4KW and buys 8 amps with a slightly larger investment (8 used strapable 1000 watt amps at $400 each is $3,200, and 400 each is a large amount for an SS competitor to pay) then top that off with 4-8 batteries (let's say another $1,000 bucks?) and a battery charger and Q's little truck could do a 160 with $4,200 investment, and no cutting anywhere on the truck. Tell me that you couldn't afford $4,200?

Exactly, now apply that reasoning to the ones who 'supposedly' can't keep up with the past finals invitees if they were allowed to remain in the Street class!

No, 154.9 after several burps to find my freq., with 2 L7 12" and a single ZAPCO 9.0.

Q's little truck could do a 160 with $4,200 investment, and no cutting anywhere on the truck

Are you saying that you are fairly sure that 2 L7 12" can hit 160dB? - and so what, a 160 won't even get me into the top 8 according to last season's top 8 at finals in SSNW!

Wow, a guaranteed spectatorship at finals for those who are wanting to be serious competitors!

To achieve the 163dB or so that will be needed to be in the top 8 at finals in this seasons LOWEST class - SSNW, it would be more like 4 Zapco 4Ks (8 9.0s, 1 per coil) and 2 Quadcoil 18s/21s, and a whole lot more than 8 Batteries - 2 8 volt per 9.0 maybe - 16 x $65 = over $1,000.00 right there, NOT including the connectors and wire needed to bring them all together into a low-loss power supply.
And how about the 18s/21s?? - do you think they'll be less than $500.00 @! - no way!

...including gas, competitor fees at shows, wood, meter, amps, batteries, wire, connectors, podium, VEHICLE, TRAILER, - 10s of $1000s isn't far off just to be a 'World Class' competitor in SSNW - The LOWEST class above Street!!!

Kinda' negative from someone with absolutely no shows on your termpro site, and who's windowbox says 18" woofers and 12000 watts... That's hardly a 'Street' system.

Yeah, let's have EVERYONE who has nothing to add to this discussion post their negative comments, that should be a great help, and really add to the discussion...

Scott you must be confused who JustboB really is....

JustboB aka Bobby Riley is a retailer who supports and promotes Db Drag to the VERY fullest. His store had shows last year basically just for those whom were chasing poitns. I believe he had an average of 2-5 local competitors at each show. Money was oftenly loss hosting an event, but that wasn't a concern. Promoting the sport, however, was.

As far as Bob's 'street' system, he actually has a RF 10" bass tube off a RF 600.5.

As a retailer Bobby just as much right. if not more than you, to post as he is the one who HOSTS the shows and pays the 100 dollars a year for that priviledge...

Thank you and have a nice day.

Novice, Street, and a potential Pro-Street.

Jeff, that was perfectly put.

Especially since the winners of last season's finals have to go back to the drawing board being that Commercial vehicles and right-behind-the-seat-boxes in vans have been ruled illegal.
