Just a thought, since other people do, why can't I. I have hopes and dreams of earning points to get to the finals, and frankly, I don't know if that will ever happen. Well, my local shop has the capabilites to run a show, and that would boost my points total. Maybe I could talk to them and see if they could do a show each week so I could be points champion. Or, maybe every two weeks, like that place in Illinois. That way, they could justly get me enough points to do this. If I need more points I could just go ask them to host a show so I could get what I need. Then, they will just change the title they enter each show as so that it doesn't look funny. Then, maybe I would have an advantage like that certain competitor who lives in the town of that shop in Illinois. Then, that would be fair!!!! 40+ points easily before the finals!!

p.s. This is meant sarcastically, but I feel this topic needs attention real quick. Otherwise, the finals may see a Points champion who falsely earned it. And, I thought it was rule that a place could only host one event, so as not to give unfair advantage. Maybe I'm mistaken.

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC. I FEEL EACH STATE SHOULD HAVE A LIMIT. THEN AGAIN YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT IT IN A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT WAYS. WHERE COMPETING AGAINST IDBL AND OTHER ASSOC. IN MY STATE FL IDBL IS BEING PUSHED VERY HARD BY THE REPS. THE FLORIDA DB DRAG TEAM IS CONSTANTLY PUSHING FOR MORE SHOWS HERE IN FL.HOWEVER THE PERSON TO ANSWER THIS
QUESTION IS WAYNE!

Well, I guess it's just my day to make posts that are going to be dogged on, but I'm going to make yet another. For those who do not have the retailer support to host shows, I am sorry. What you have to do is get the retailer support. Last year we had to travel several hours for each show. This year, because of gaining retail support, we have shows fairly close each weekend. It's not Wayne's responsibility to get the shops to host show, he has enough to do, trust me! If you have enough people in your area that are insistent upon gaining retail support, it will happen. This is one of those things that you have to do on your own, you can't expect somebody (ex. Wayne) to do it for you. If you don't agree with this I am sorry, but this is the way I feel about the issue.

I can understand your post, BUT, I feel it is quite unfair for a shop to run multiple events to forward the progress of a "World Class" competitior from their own town, possibly their OWN shop. Its unfair to others that must travel and earn their points. Otherwise, I'm all for having multiple events everywhere.

p.s. Check the event calender for Illinois. You'll see this quite clearly!!

DragQueen, I completely agree. BUT, my point was the fact that a shop in Illinois is unfairly boosting the points of a competitior from their town. He already has enough points to get to finals, probably. But, they have more events. These can help that competitior by over 40 points. He always gets First, also? FISHY, smells like it.

WAYNE, I FEEL THAT THIS IS UNFAIR, AND SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED. If they wish to have more events, then they shouldn't be good for points. That guy already has like 24 already from them alone, and have 5 more events yet. PLEASE, inform me if I'm wrong so that I can take advantage of this wonderful pleathra of points.

Let me ask you this....if a competitor was attending all of these shows and not placing first at every one would you still be complaining about it? I'm not trying to be a you-know-what about it; I truthfully would like to know how you would feel about that. Is there a specific reason you are picking on this one competitor from Illinois? It's just retailer support. How about the Omaha area? Although not all of the shows are at the same store they do have a show nearly every weekend. Do you disagree with this also? If so, how would you correct the problem?

I wouldn't care if the shows didn't count towards points, but they do. It would still matter about the first place thing, given this situation. I have NOTHING AGAINST THIS COMPETITIOR, NOR HAVE I BEEN TO ONE OF THE SHOWS. By the appearance, though, he has a huge advantage over EVERYONE else since he is in the top bracket on points. I they want to host so many events, one a few should count for points. AM I WRONG? I need points, but every show I go to, I have to drive for a distance. This competitor can (asumably) drive down the block every two weeks and add 8 points. The first place thin is fishy because he always wins, meaning 8 points. Granted, he has a sweet ride, and would assuraradly kick my butt, but it is the principle of it. He has only left town for Double and Triple events. Two other shows were very near his town, and the rest will be in his hometown. AND, all of their events happen when there is no other important event for him to go to, like double or triple point events. I just want things to be fair, and this doens't seem to fit that. Its like they schedule their events around his schedule. I'm not bashing, just pointed out something. If he gets points champion this year, it is sour!

Please, look for yourself, and you'll see it. I ran across it by accident, but it does also affect me.

First of all, I would like to see how this is affecting me. Is the title of Points Champion that big of a deal to you? I just don't understand why this one shop bothers you so much. It's just retailer support. Like I asked before, what about the Omaha area, and other areas with a show every weekend or nearly every weekend?

Somehow this is becoming a question of my motives. I don't think I would be points champion, far from it. Chances are it doesn't affect you, either. It does affect the guy that that may have been beat by, say, 5 points for points champ by this competitior, yet the beaten guy traveled all over the place to earn his points. He was beat by someone who got like 50 points handed to him by his local shop, now come on, is that fair. ALSO, just because it is going on in Omaha makes it okay? That's like saying if he did it, so can I. I research I can get to, and Omaha doesn't come up. I am attempt to bring something into view that people seem to overlook, haven't noticed, or as now proven, don't really care because it doesn't directly involve themself. It is for the greater good. If we don't look at the our piece of the puzzle, then we will reach the final product and all of Wayne's hare work on this saction goes to waste. IASCA would never allow this, nor would USAC. That is why one shop is only allowed ONE point event at their respective shops. IT MAKES IT FAIR TO ALL, not just the one who got 100 points from the show in their own backyard, at their own shop. Again, look at it on a grander scale.

I think that you are misunderstanding my points. I'm not saying that just because it is happening in Omaha it should happen everywhere, I'm just saying that I don't see why it is such a big deal. I don't understand why it bothers you so much. You said yourself that this person travels to double and triple points as well as attending the shows at his local shop. He's not getting all of his points in one place, he is travelling like many others do. Why does this bother you so much that one person is doing this?

THIS DOESN'T JUST CONCERN ILLINOIS, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE CHECKED INTO EVERYWHERE!

If I'm wrong in this, I will be going to my local shop and get them do do this for me as well. We all should. Then we don't have to travel or meet new people or see new places. We can all sit in our respective towns and not worry about what we use and how we build our system and all of that, we just compete with other people who go to their shops more. Now that would be competition!! That is all I have to say on this. Wayne, when you read this, I do feel that this is very important. I'm not the only one who has noticed this, and it will happen more and more until it isn't worth even going to DBDrags anymore. I love this, and thank you much for what you've created, and only wish to keep the integritity of it. If this snowballs, there will be no reason to even try anymore. I hope this can be averted.

And, DragQueen, I do understand your points. It is saying, why should I even care, or why does it bother me. Read the above for that. When people choose not to care about problems and issues, they only become part of the problem, not the solution. I want to make sure that this doesn't happen all over the place, and that WAYNE SHOULD make a rule on the number of points events in a city or around it, especially per shop. That would also prevent poorly run shows. Only the places that plan ahead and run good shows will have them, and we will all be much more satified with the whole sanction. Especially the use of TermPro software. I've been at events that use AudioControl, and they con fudge the reading with a turn of a knob. It just needs to be ruled upon, thats all.

Excuse me for butting in here...
How many points does this person have?I believe it will take well over 200pts to be this years points champion.
I think I am understanding you correctly...The person in question is getting first at all of his local retailers events.First what class is he in?Is he the ONLY one in his class? And what is his SPL?
Second...WHY bash a shop because they want to hold events every weekend?I say kudos to them and there support for DB Drag is great for the sport.
The only thing I can see is if the shop SAYS they hold shows,or do hold shows, and GIVE points to a competitor that may never even have competed, just so that person can go to finals.
Now for my experience....There is a shop that holds a show EVERY Fri. night. Not a big show-pretty much a local event. But it is every Fri. night.Now-there is a competitor in my class who was taking first at all of these shows. He was also the ONLY competitor in this class.According to his results he was doing #'s that were close to mine.So I decide to get the day off and drive to this shop and see my competition and compete against it.I get there after a 4.5hour drive one way to find a show of about 12 cars or so.Then I see the car that was getting all the firsts in my class.I find that it is indeed a serious threat in my class. So I compete against him....And now he has one 2nd place at one of his shops shows.
But the point is that don't BASh the shop for wanting to hold shows in support of DBDRAG.If there shows are truely legit then great!IF not-then they will get caught! So go to the show, compete, watch, and then make your judgements!

Again, I completely agree. BUT, I have been to numerous shows this year, and all of them, when I ask when their next show is, were under the impression that they could only hold one show per year. Now, if thats not the case, I will surely inform them of this. I will take a copy of anything Wayne posts on this subject with me and inform them of that. Then, I will have access to as many points as everyone else. All I said above is that a certain competitior was either getting points unfairly due to his local shop, or else we all have not been informed of a very important issue. Lets see what Wayne has to say on this.

I do feel that if places are allowed more than one points show, at least in a given time frame anyhow, it is unfair to those who only have a limited number of shows that they can physically reach, yet still have some sort of social and work life. Am I wrong?

------------------
Also, just to be clear: I would never bash a shop that promotes DBDrag. Unfortunately, look at the results from their events. The last event had half as many competitors as the one in March. I guess we'll see what Sunday's does. Its just that if they hold so many, then they should be half point events or something.

Ok, i feel the need to butt in here. I too travel to a million of shows all over the place, even travel 5 or 6 hours if necessary.
I have gone to a show in Omaha and will never go back again unless I need points really bad and go to place and get points.
The damn judged were competing in the comp, when they were done running their cars through, then they would run all of ours through. They always ended up winning. Why don't you look at something like that more than how many shows a retailor has. hell, i would love it if the retailor in my area had a comp every weekend. I love competing(too bad for the accident). dont kick the retailor for sponsoring the db drag association and making it famous in that town. The kid obviously will deserve to go to finals if he wins, no matter how he does it, he isnt cheating is he? hmm..NOPE so who cares?

Okay, this is my last post on this topic. I would just like to know why you thought that a retailer could only hold one show per season. I'm not trying to bash what you are saying, that has not been my point in any of my posts. I'm sorry if I have come off as offensive, that's not what I meant to do.

All the shows I've been to, the coordinators have been under the impression that they can hold only one show (for points, anyhow). One retailer told me that he couldn't hold more than one because he was informed that if he did, it would give an unfair advantage to local competitiors, points wise. I don't know where he got that info, but it sounded reasonable to me. I was clued into one place that held a DB Drag, and IDBL, and a USAC event in one year, but that gave me no points help. I would love to get an ivitation to the finals. I go to a show every weekend, whatever sanction, but I just don't have enough DB Drag events in my area for me to get the points. Especially with this going on. I have no chance in he11.

Between DbDrag, IdbL, and USAC Outlaw SPL, I have close to 100 points. Unfortunatley, I don't have enough in each to go to the finals, and I can't afford to go way out of my to get to events. I do still have to live a life. It just seems that this is becoming a competition for the rich and industry backed competitors, and I know that is not what Wayne intended. I am finals worthy with my 2 15s. There are only a few that beat me. Unfortunately, the guys with 2 36" woofers will clean my clock. I highly doubt that the finals will see any realistic competitor again, unless we are all willing to sacrifice our entire car for sub space. It would have been nice to see someone with 2 fifteens take first at the final, but come on. That won't happen. We've gone from cheater amps to super subs. IASCA, class one at most will have 1 12" woofer. Imigine a 6 foot trophy at finals for a 143.2 or something. That opens a whole lot of doors for many people, and that would be great.

Hey, TALONTSI!! First off, I had a legitimate topic of discussion. Due to the fact of the shows I go to not understanding what WAYNE just outlined. The shows I've been to thought only one was what they could hold. AND, I don't get beat all of the time, but I'm also not a trophy scooper. I am in it for the competition. Obviously, you're not! How much did you spend, huh. My car is a real world system. I am proud of that fact that my system can beat MOST of the competition, yet still look good on the road. How cool is it when some rich s.o.b. goes and buys a $20,000 truck and fills it with thousands worth of stuff, and barely breaks 150. Come on. Then there are those that buy crap cars, fill them with particle board and woofers, and win all the time, but would rather be cought dead than ride that thing around town. Frankly, it means more to mean to look as good as it hits. The guys that beat me are usually guys like that. BUT, is usually isn't that extreme. Astetically, my car is awesome, and hits awesome, more than most, but still isn't top dog. And that is how I like it. Just ride the drive, pay the fee, and take home a trophy. How fun is that? Whatever. AND, my point above was that it does seem unfair that certain shops can host so many shows SEEMINGLY in backing their local DB Drag heavy hitter, for points. I never claimed to be points champion, nor did I personally bash anyone. But, I got one thing to say to you. GET RESPECT. I brought up something for Wayne to answer, and IF he was unaware of this, give the option to do something. As I asked, and you ignored, that wasn't the place to gripe. If you have anything else that you'd like to say, go ahead. BUT, someone like you is no longer worth my time. Don't trash talk something you obviosly know nothing about, like competition. Just binging up questions, and trying to keep it fair.

Oh, one more thing. DB DRAG is my main thing, and will always attend over any other sanction. BUT, when their is another else where, I will go to it. Its called competition, and there is more than just Db Drag. IF you have a beef with the others, fine. I don't. A competition is a competition, no matter the name. And, you see different ways to do things. TRY IT, you might actually then understand.

Also, you sit here and tell me why a competitior who builds a kick a$$ 12" woofer system shouldn't be given the right to be recognized at a world class event. It seems that the only recognition goes to the most woofers. A four 18 woofer system in a car would never see light of day, but put 20 8's in, with the same score, and WOW!!! Here come the magazines who want your car in their magazine. OOOOHHHH. BIG DEAL!!

One more thing, I also have yet to meet a competitior in my class who even thinks of going to the finals to compete. They all have the same attitude. Oh, why waste my time, I'll just get beaqt by all those guys with 24" or 32" woofers, etc. Unfortuantely, THE CURRENT WOOFER CLASSES ARE JUST AS UNFAIR TO US AS THE POWER CLASSES. Locally, they are much better than power class, but nationally, they spell doom for most. The classes should better reflect the majority, not the minority. Cone area leaves an unquesionable playing field for all. Even they guy who spend 10,000 on his system has to compete against the guy who spent 5,000. It then becomes and issue of how you use your stuff, not how big of stuff you got. IF you disagree with this statement, then you are obviously one of those competitors that are too afraid of that proposition, since it might jeopardize your status as a trophy grabber. Sorry, you didn't say that you were, but your tone makes it obvious.

What ever happened to just having a good sound system for the hell of it. By the looks of it the difference between you and a puppy is the that the puppy will stop whining. If you think you have to drive a far distance just try living in north Idaho.

Well, I said that my last post last night was going to be my last...but I lied. I just have to add one more thing...I happen to be one of the people who bought a cheap car and modified it for dB drags. The thing that bothers me is you say that those of us who do this wouldn't want to be caught dead driving down the street in it. You're wrong!

Not being a retailer you don't realize the amount of business a show generates. Next year I plan on having at least two shows a month. Just so you know my shop built the loudest car in my town next year we will have two more. We are not doing this to get tons of points just for bragging rights. We want to bring DB Drags to our town in full effect. The more shows we have the more business. One local kid pulls in the lane gets beat and the next day I'm selling him more woofers. Thats what it is all about. I think you just have the wrong conception of what the shop in Illinois is doing. And also any competitor, amateur or pro, that is serious about competing and going to finals has retailer support. If you don't then your doing something wrong.

I believe that ALL the shows should be done by a team of Dealers, Reps, Whatever (as long as they are qualified).Just to keep all the shows consistant. I believe there should be a judging team for every state...or in rural areas two states...If this team were at a show in that state..they can't be elsewhere. So there would only be one show in that state per day. This would make the competition be stronger thus...bigger, better events. Also, there would be no delay in turning in results....All the shows(in that state) would have the same judges and use the same equipment.I myself would donate my Sunday's to the cause in Ohio.As i'm sure others will also. Just my two cents..
