I know about the string from opened window to window. The box can not be above the string correct. It looks like where my box comes out of the trunk into the cabin is about 1/2 inch above the "string", if I angle the top of the box slightly down It will be below the string. Will I still be in NW.

Thanks for any help.

well if you angle the box like / the front part will not be in considered a wall but when you go front your string and draw an imaginary line straight back the line will eventually hit the box making it WALL = ( sorry bud

If your enclosure is in the trunk, you are exempt from the wall test.

But only half of the encloser is going in the trunk, and I'm having it extend a little into the cabin. Where it inters the cabin is about 1/2 inches above the "string" and it was going to angle down slightly to get below the string.

sorry im trying to picture this in my head. Ok you said you have a box that is half in the truck and other part is in the cabin. Now are you saying your box in the truck extends through your back seat to the window line in the front seats?? You are you saying that it passes out of the truck an inch and . . . . . . acctualy can you just explain it better. or say what kinda car it is so i can picture this . . THanks

It is a 93 prelude, the encloser is going to extend about 18-24 inches out into the cabin. But where the encloser enters the cabin from the trunk, it would be about 1/2 inches too high for the "string". I am going to slighly anlge the top so it would end up being below the "string"

As a judge, if I were to rule on this type of install, I would say in SS1-2NW the portion that extends into the cabin would be subject to the wall test, and the portion that is in the trunk would not be.

This type of install would not be legal at all in Street because the enclosure would interfere with the function of the rear seat.

You might want to wait until the 2002 rules are final before you build.

David, if I may pose my opinion of your comment...

If "ANY" part of the enclosure is in the interior portion of the vehicle, "ALL" of the enclosure should be subject to the "string test". Once ANY part of the enclosure enters the interior of the vehicle, the enclosure should no longer be considered a "trunk install" and the exemption from the string test should not be considered.

Like I said, this is only my personal opinion. Thank you

I would also agree with David on this one. I was thinking the same thing before I read he's post.

But I also see Sid's point. Waiting on the 2002 rules would be the best to do for now.

By the way, do have have an extra set of keys?

according to 2001 rules, trunk vehicles don't have to follow the NW rules.

Trunk means a vehicle that has a defining truck, seperated buy metal trunk lid, or package tray.

Hatchbacks or subject to the NW test.

All of this was 2001 rules.

I hope this answers your questions,
