Has anyone had much experience with the MTX 81000D?
I'd like to know it they deal with low impedances better than the MTX 1000D.
We run 4 1000D in AJ's Civic, www.ajaudio.com, bridged together into 4 MTX Thunder 8000 15's. We originally ran 4 ohm woofers, which rose to 10.4 ohm at 46Hz, netting 5.2 ohms. The problem is that the 1000D's detected the nominal 2 ohm load and would shut down when high power runs were attempted.
We've gone back to 8 ohm woofers, and because of this are losing a potential 3 dB, BAD VERY BAD!!!!
I have in the past bridged 2 Crossfire CFA 1000D's into a nominal 1 ohm load, and as long as the correct tone was played they co-operatered. We got 166.2 using 4 amps and 8 MTX Thunder 5000 15's. Not bad in a daily driver with bolt in window mods!
I notice on the MTX website, that guys using RFL's are bridging two 81000D's into the nominal 2 ohm coils. Have MTX changed the new amps to allow them to do this??
We've even tried bi-passing the over current feed back loop in the PWM power supply chip in the 1000D's but they still shut down!
Any thoughts ould be appreciated. Before we rush out and order DD 9515's and MTX 81000D's.

i used them last season, and had very few problems running 1000d's at 1 ohm. as long as i was careful to watch the input voltage and the volume button, they were great.

I have 8 MTX1000ds,2 MTX RFLs in SSn-w class. only problem i had was getting half burps due to the impedance of the RFLs.1.5 ohms per coil.switched to dual 4 ohm subs and got full burps.remember you have a anti clippin circuit in each amp thats defult settings are ON shipped from mtx!
