Hello to everybody, who like´s to know this, Here is the little story from our german finals from last weekend 10+11 Nov.2001... Regarding me and the Ü2 car, and our (nearly)similar Ü1 car, and the High E3-4 and E13+numbers...
My score in Qualify at Saturdas was 167,1dB with Ü2. And its similar to all the events I was with this car, and this setup. 166,1 from Ulm with 12 Volt, and in the qualifying of the german finals 166,3dB with 12 Volt (Remember it was 2°C and Ulm 16°C) Then I switched to 17,8 Volt and I had this 167,1dB. Ü1 had 166,3 in Qualify at saturday, and also 166,3 on the last qualify at sunday morning.(All Ü1 scores with Strokers) So in this range of, hm, 160 to 168, the mics must be accurate. (my opinion and of some others too) But on Sunday morning(I find that out later) one Lead Wire from one of my D2 Strokers, fell of. So I had just 3 coils. To make it short, I had 166,4 on the last qualify on sunday morning, and at the first Elimination round 166,6dB. (All with 3 coils). It was already dark (5 pm) and about 0°C ! Then the Mic moved, and we must re run. Then the mic moved again, and we must re run. Then we take the suction cup, and the mic moved a third time... So, then no time to load batteries...(And the suction cups was used sometimes, not all the time) 4 th re run, then a second Lead wire breaks and I had just 2 coils, 164,6 and the amps always in protection... So we must replace the 2 woofers in 7 8 minutes... (How much time do I have when this happens?) In my opinion, we must have more time to replace, but yesterday I was to busy and excited to think about They count 2 minutes down, and we must hurry to change the woofers. In this last minute, my Team member Rainer, changed the polarity of one coil of the top woofer. You know what that mean... 20 Seconds before the time was out, we arrived in the lanes, no time to test if everything is correct... Üüüühh!!!-> Ü1 167,0dB and Ü2 163,5dB(ONE WOOFER !!!), second place... I thought, the new woofer was broken, but later I recognized, that the polarity was incorrect. HMPF !!! **** happens ! (But why always to the Ü2 ???)The woofers are still ok, just the lead wires must be soldered back to the terminals... But u must also know , the Ü1 was always with strokers, and they was about 0,7dB behind me all the time. Saturday and Sunday. With no changings, they had no chance to win against me. I understand them. Before the elimnation rounds start, the switched to DD 9917 woofers, and put them into the Ü1 car. So, they had 167 dB then (166,3dB before). But I had the highest SS1-2 SPL this weekend. Im not angry, I can live with this (ok,maybe a little bit angry). Ü1 is german champion now, without Strokers, but Ü2 has the higher score (just 0,1 but higher...). And I have the first certified score, to go to the next years "US" World Finals. (If everything works, u know the problems...) In any case Ü1 and Ü2 are damn loud SS1-2 cars. Im trying hard to come to Sweden, but my team member has no time, and alone there is no way...
To the german "Highflyers" I say nothing now. They are really loud. But if this 176 of Team BS are correct, can nobody say. Their Car is damn loud, sad, that we don´t had it at the world finals... It was very cold outside and nobody knows the influence of this to the mics. And when they aren´t accurate over the 170´s, they can be accurate at lower scores. So not ALL scores must be 2db or something lower. To the finals, two TermLabs was used. One for Lower, one for Higher Classes. And when one is incorrect in any way (it was the lower one) then the other has nothing to do with it... And yes, they had no calibrator, but they had a calibrated TermLab, and they adjusted ALL used TermLabs from the german finals to this calibrated one... And everybody knows, what calibrating is worth, in reality...(Think of the world finals...) So nobody can say nothing for sure, just, that we all can compare cars AT ONE AND ONLY EVENT, DAY, AND ESPECIALLY THE SAME MICROPHONE !!! Can we all accept this? Numbers are just a point to look at, when they are from different parts of the world, and different times and temperatures etc...
I think, there will be a lot of discussions now, but thats my points. I will find out if some of this german cars will come now to the Euro finals, after this scores. At Euro finals will be a calibrator. I think it is necessary to go there... But the E3-4 Bus (174 something...) from Team Kienzle doesnt exist anymore (I think), because the DD9917 are now in the Ü1 car...

167.1 is one hell of a score, congratulations! Glad to hear the U2 is still louder with the Strokers. Too bad you didn't get first. There's always next time. See you in the Future, and good luck. Which subs did which scores in which vehicles?
