quote:Originally posted by Shedluv: Not true. In USAC the box may be as tall as the side or rear window in the cargo area. In dBDrag, it must be lower than the front side windows. On several vehicles, this is not the same. One Example: Ford Mustang (80s model hatch) there are no side windows by the hatch area (behind the seats) and you can build up to the bottom of the rear window (about 13-14 inches). If you go by the front windows, it is approximately 2 inches shorter. That's not a lot, but the difference between 11 inches and 14 is large margin if you're trying to use 12s.
Not to debate the USACi rules, on the dB Drag rules forum, but no where does the USACi rules stipulate "in the cargo area". The USACi rule that I posted, was taken directly from the USACi rules. If I am mistaken, please correct me, and show me where the USACi rules state that only the windows "in the cargo area" are used to determine enclosure height allowances.
From what I have read of the USACi rules, and the dB Drag racing drafts, the same allowance is given for speaker enclosure height, in both USACi (stock class) and dB Drag Racing (street class).
But, if I am wrong, please forgive me.
Thank you.
PS. If this issue needs more clarification, to see if the USACi rules and dB Drag Racing rules are equally matched, Maybe Wayne could contact Ralph directly. Since both are working in unison now, keeping each close related to the other would be ideal. The best way for that to happen, would be to have the top officials of both, to converse directly.
Sid -- the "cargo area" thing came from the USAC rules that say the box cannot block any of the vision out of the rear or side windows. This would mean to me that the box can be just as high as the rear or side windows near the cargo area (cause that's where the box is). There is no way that a box could block the vision out of the front two windows if it is in the cargo area.
