This rule is not going to do a damm thing except cost people money. My blazer is legal and has plenty of room inside I built this thing to promote the SPL contest. If this type of crap persist we will go the way of SQ and people like myself and Mike Jones, Steve Cook, Roger Briges will be forced to make a discission based solely on money and DB Drag will loose. I don't think any one wants that! As we will not be the only competitors to walk away!!!!

Sound Great. We are just starting our build into extreme and we like the rules so far. our stats page is http://www.termpro.com/asp/competitorstats.asp?Competitor_ID=38694&Season=0
we are very young in this game so we are looking forward to get these rules so that we can be ready for this season

What´s happening?

We soon have to start re-build our car if we are supposed to get it out to the first competition in Sweden...

How does this vehicle approximate the interior of a "normal" car?

The horizontal bars through the normal passenger entry point look fishy to me.

Our 1980 Honda Civic is pretty small as far as cars go. I consider our roof and floor to be damm heavily built. It still comes in at well over 32 inches.

As you understand we will need some time to RE-BUILD our car to be within the rules...

In last year rules this had been considered as a "floor build" up.
This pic will make it more clear: -

BUT our car will NOT have this "floor build up".

It will be rebuild.

Wow....that car is really tall compared to most japanese cars...those doors are taller than they are long. Most jap car doors are longer than taller...people don't seem to be grasping this concept...if we don't lower the bar to 30" then people with normal jap/euro cars will not be able to compete in extreme.
That´s correct...

Anywhere`s from 34" to 30" will do. We own an 89 honda civic and we can easily get 34" from the floor to the roof with proper bracing.

Does this rule apply to the drivers side as well?? Shouldn`t this rule say acceptable internal height of the passenger and drivers side compartments? I think it applys to both, just double checking.

30" because there are many small cars, that have hard time to fit in 32" without tearing original floor off

I bet 32" is enough for those guys, who could easily do that, but they aren't thinking others that can't do that.

Wayne, for What its worth I liked it at 36". Then 34 was ok, Then 32" started pushing it. Now we are talking 30".
I think everyone needs to step back and look at what we are trying to AVIOD. And then think before we throw up Ideas just because they would benefit the vehicles that we are directly involved with.
We needed to change this so things would get better, The key word in that is "CHANGE"!!!!!!! You cant expect the sport as a whole to get better without "CHANGE". But it seems there are a large # of people that dont want to accept the fact that it might have to be the installs themselves that have to be "CHANGED". I think the basis and resoning behind this rule CHANGE is extremely Valid and needed to be done to put certain things back in check.
I personally will build to what ever the new rules are, no big deal. I just dont wont this issue to be at the point of getting out of hand again. And, as I have said since the begining of all this no matter what comes of it I will be back to play this year!
LUNDY!

P.S. Wayne, thanks for asking!
