from the rules it would seem as though in street you can now put the battery anywhere you want so long as it is below the maximum physical size...so in street A could you then take the battery out of the engine compartment and have it in the trunk instead?

I would actually like to see that, it would keep people from complaining about, well that vehicle can fit that battery but mine cant. Still make them be hooked up to run the car but don't make them be in the engine compartment. I don't think it will happen but it would be cool.

The only reason I tend to disagree with this is because the only advantage a larger vehicle has over the small 2 seaters are their larger battery capacity.

You do not want to take every advantage that exists away from large vehicles.

Not that this matters now because of a battery size limit.

Not ALL larger vehicles have a larger battery location. I know my truck I had to work really hard to get a SVR80 to fit. I think given enough time I can make a 1700 fit in the factory location, but it requires removing a lot of stuff (hoses, coolant overflow tank, grill and headlights, shoving the battery in the hole, and then replacing everything. The "hole" is big enough for a 1700, you just can't get it in there without major disassembly.

I really think that it should be in the oem place. If it came under the hood, under the seat or anywhere else thats where it should be.That is for street A,B,and C.Just the the why i see street classes.I have a Z28 can't put a big bat there.

It should be mounted in the original place !
Dont forget Street Rules are for Street Cars !

But i think in Street A and B you need to mount the battery in the front because you need the space for some db´s ! [Wink]

I would almost bet that at least 1 battery must be in the OEM location.
