IMO nothing except that everybody will be playing 49 Hz.
Same people will stay on top, same equipment will stay on top.
I see sense of limit to 80 Hz when people started playing 200-300 Hz... but com on, how many people have have CO set at 50Hz if we are trying to make S class real street class.

not to mnay, BUT, how mny street beater kids go out to there local shop and say, my CRX/panda peaks at 58 HZ so can you make me a street box tht peaks "heavy" in that area? NONE, I say if this goes, make it lower yet, like 40hz. because 95% of the street beater boxes I have worked on (and have seen) are ported to peak round 30-35hz NOT 50+, regardless of where the crossover is set. So your right, they do NOT set the cross overs at 50hz, but at the same time 90% of the material they are looking to "street beat" with is in the 25-40 hz range...
lol, and in that respect, in SS1-2 I turned my cross overs off, I was only playing one note anyways.....
Most of street competitors here use multiple aeroports. All they have to do is close ½ of ports and they have everiday tuning for music. Same goes for slot ports. Just block part of the port and you have everyday tuning. Is that expensive or too much to ask from competitors?
I have organized dB Drags here and as much I had time I always helped new competitors with suggestions, no mather what goods they have in cars. Try this port, try that frequency, unplug front system, set gains… and number of competitors is growing, and also number of retail stores and importers that are involved in dB Drag here is also growing.
We must motivate people to start to think about competitions and fhisic laws of car audio and then they will spend more to compete… and only then will retail and manufacturers members benefit from dB Drag. Not when everything will be stock.
And in my opinion 50 Hz limit will make even bigger difference between experienced competitors and new ones. Not to mention extra burden on competitors to buy new cars.

MS should be class for newcomers! No finals for them, but more unifined guidelines for MS rules as now.
Make MS one year only class (for best competitors in MS) and no finals or record for them. But also make more media atention for MS competitors to motivate them to go to regular class.

True, my box peaked at 35 hz, actually that was my res freq, and I had my x-over set for about a -3 dB at aroung 60 hz, so it was probably around 45-50 hz and -24 dB per octave.
But, I don't really think we should impose any limits, just change the way we test.

And how many streetbeaters go to the local shop and say i will have a 5000watts amp because i want to blow my ears of???
As long as the rules allow us to have those big amps no stretbeaters have a chance..
The problem is that db drag is not for street beaters same as car competions.. No car in standard can race in racing they have to be built for it.

Why do we need to change things that already worked very well?
Thais sport is called dB Drag RACING
not: just measure what you have in car!
Street class is THE most popular class!
If you want to atract streeatbeaters we have MS, and from that event organizers should motivate them to be more serious and to LEARN and to IMPROVE to be loud.
Don't push old competitors away. Work on beginers in MS class!

Just because it will look like stock car? Stupid excuse IMO.
Top street cars are real race cars. Who have 2xAWG 0 for cables in streetbeater car, or which streetbeater tests several boxes, many ports designs and lenghts, etc...

exsactly, I am not going to go on bout it, but, you siaid it right there.
kids on the streets want to show how loud they can be..."these are the kids DbDrag is tageting as new compitiors" now, if they are completly set up to everyday listen, how in the world can they compete aginst compitiors? They can't. IF these kids were smart enought to make dual port set ups, nd chnge the tunning of there boxes, for shows you know what they would be...???/ netier do I BUT, they surlly would NOT be the NEWBIES we are trying to get into the sport.
and, IF we mke MSD MANDATORY at every event, I an see this not being needed, but, if MSD is not put into check, we need to make steet more inviting.
nd yes, your right this would do nothig for the 5000W amps, but I am 100% sure woffers at high SPL and low freguencies (in vented enclosure) will blow up a whole lot faster, meaning theses people putting 5000 Watts per woffer in street class will be blowing up ALOT more woffers. OR they will use less power. AND, I m also 100% sure the gain you get from a vented enclosuer is ALOT bigger at higher frequncies, antherwords everyday listeners tune to around 35HZ where they are (typical street box) only getting about 6 DB of gain from the enclosure, where as if you tune the pros down to this area, they too, will be limited to about 6db of gain (with everything else the same). SO, not only does it put the frequency limit down where it needs to be to attract newbies, it ALOS makes the pros in street have a lot smaller advantge.
but againg, I say, " this is only needed IF MSD does not become mandatory....

I have a friend that has a tahoe with 2 runs of 1/0 power wire, 1 1/0 ground, 3 extra batteries, a beefed up alternator and over 6000 watts in his daily driver. He has never thought about competing. He just likes his stuff to be loud.

If this 50Hz rule is becoming true, we will see lot of big SUV's, wagons etc. BIG cars on the line's. Also we are going to see lot of frustraited competitors strugling with their HU's cause it skip's. What you think that is going to happen when you push +150dB's under 50Hz and you have to install HU in stock placement??? I dont know what you boys and girls are going to do, but i can throw my pioneer HU out of the windows and hope that Santa C is bringin me some nice Alpine with CD-changer. This HU-rule suck even more every year. Nice to try shutdown the HU with P.O.S remotecontrol when you sidewindows are flaping like bird.
Hey manufactures! How about Wayne's world special edition HU with some serious antishock-memory and decent remote??? Please?

Small cars can play low notes too. When our team first started playing with a CRX, it was doing over a 150 in street A at 47hz.

right, with the CRX, EVERY car is different.....
and I m ware that most SUV's hve low resonate fq's that;s why I suggested 40 HZ, then every vehicle "i know of" will have lost its high peak, t that, usally being the bigger one.
but that's not where I am going...I am suggesting 40HZ because it's about the highest note any true everyday car would have it's box tunned to...
ND EVEN IF, a car or SUV peaked below 40 hz..fine, they are getting the same gains any street beater would be getting because tht is right around where there box is probably tunned (30-40hz)

My Pioneer has withstood 152.1 in the dash without skipping. No other head I have tried could do it though.

I like this idea also. Play music for 30 seconds. No freq limits but Wayne could include tracks on the cd that could only be used. There would have to be a limit the number of mids and highs and the amps driving them along with subs also. Same classes basically as street but you would have to let them run or it would turn into death match. Low voltage would kill amps if they ran 30 seconds. I don't know many street beaters that just park and play, they drive and play. Limit the vehicle to one alt 12v. This should stop the big amps taking over in these classes and make design a huge issue. This would make a true street class.

I almost forgot it would be nice to have a trunk class in this division also. This would help the average street beater by not making him compete against cars such as CRX's and trucks.
