Hey Wayne might think about a staged membership.

example:

full member = 30.00
jr. member = 10.00

jr. membership can't qualify for finals or attend 3X events. This would allow for a cheaper $$$ requirement to try out DB drags at thier local shops.

Just a basic concept to bring in more members and possibly grow the sport.

Hm,
at the moment a "non member" can attent all
competitions, even 3x, and cant attend finals.

So why should somebody pay for "not beeing allowed" to compete at a 3x Event ?

I think I see what you mean, but that means that everybody has to be a member.
And if this happen, dB Drags will have less competitors !
How much people compete in ÜSA without membership?
Just for fun?
For example here in Germany we had over 1200 different
people competing during the 2003 season.
Over 1000 during the 2002 season.
Guess how much are members?
Only 60 !
And just to attend the german finals, over 30 of them
registered one month before the german finals !

Or you must agree to a "jr. membership" when you are a
newbie and attend your first db drag competition.
That means some people have to pay additional 10 Dollars
for their entry fee.
Some will say ok, no big deal, others will say, oh,
I just want to compete to see how much I have,
I am sorry, but this is too much money for one test.
And the organisation of the "jr. memberships"
will need same time than "sr. memberships".

So I think, the things are good now.

What about a "lifetime membership", so competitors do not have to renew on a yearly basis?

very good points

why not give the people a reason to get a membership.

::example only::

single -- 20.00
double -- 40.00
tripple -- 60.00

membership discounted prices

single -- 15.00
double -- 35.00
triple -- 50.00

just brain storming at the moment.

You mean discounts to entry fees?

For Germany we have following fees:

Single 15 Euro ( I make 5-10 Euro at my events)
Double 20 Euro
Triple 25 Euro

1 Euro = 1,20 Dollar

Membership here is 60 Euro a year, includes the
"international membership"

Some events are entry free because of sponsors
what pay the fees.
And THAT is maybe the point to improve.
Find more sponsors, so that dB Drag Org. gets the money
for an even,
the employees of db drag (Judges tec.)
and the people can compete for free.

This works for several years now here in Germany.
And a lot of people support dB Drag without beeing a member.
And you see, that not very much "professionals"
are here in Germany right now.
Would say: The Minority is the Majority [Wink]

$30 is already farly cheap. And since you dont need to have a membership to attend 1x 2x or 3x shows than I do not see a point to lowering it. But i can see a point for lowering the cost to enter the events on a class bassis. $10 for street, $15 for SS and $20 for extreme.

I look at it like this

DB drag needs to make money -- memberships
Store hosting needs to make money -- entry fees and extra business.
Competitor (db drag member) needs fair pricing on both fronts.
Spectator needs some kind of reason to join and be apart of DB drag.

idea make it a requirement, if not already to be a member of DB drags to compete in street , SS, and extreme. let the just for fun non-members play in the ministreet.

Could make it so only those with a paid membership get points for finals.....like if only one gy has a membership and he places 2nd he still gets 7pts but the first place guy does not get any for first...........second thought...that is not a good idea....

I also have an idea for an "harder" regulation:

When somebody want to play at the world/national
finals, he has to be member, thats what it is now.

And this previously a few months before finals.
Points can be collected without being a member.

Cancel THIS !
Just from the beginning of the membership, you can
collect the points !
That makes people paying earlier and help them to
be more serious, instead of saying : Lets see what will happen, and then I decide to go...

Because its not really fair for the members who pay right
after the end of a season.
Just my opinion...

Good point BigOki....I too cant afford to charge membership it chases the competitors away, they dont have the money to travel and compete, let alone pay for membership.

Lets hope world economy improves for all. [Wink]
