quote: I would definitely say that there were more 16v batteries than 12 volts, so there will be a lot of pi$$ed off people if you take in some of the suggestion to limit the voltage of the batteries too.
I could careless if the quads are banned, but if you take everything away, then there will be a lot of veterans quit competing.

As mentioned in another thread, HO Alternators, Turbo Start, and Xtatic all make 16 volt products. All three had a booth at Finals this year. To ban 16 volt systems would only serve to run off manufacturers who currently support DB Drag and the retailers who sell their products. In my humble opinion this rule would be very counter productive for the longevity of DB Drag.

All 3 of those you mentioned are also pretty well established with 12v products. Just a thought

Now that would realy flip my nut......... I am new to db Drag, 2004 will be my 3 year for me and I too have started small. 2002 my set up was about $500 a slap together set up, 2003 we got a Term Pro meter (new one) and went to work on a real SPL set up(all this in Street A). I have all ready started to make plans for 2004 quad subs, 16volt and some amps(in super street class) I love the sport a lot and I have no problem with 16volt or quad subs. Now there will be no quad (did not read that Wayne say that direct) but most people have agreed to that change, now thay want to talk about the 16volt!!!!!!!!! What is up with this??????? I had a talk to Brian from Turbo Start and was looking at the price on the 16volt bat... I must say it will be cheaper for me to buy the 16v than 12v bat. even when I add the S+H to the cost price to the 16v bat. So in no way that the idea 16v bat. out, because it will cost more to have 12v. I real hope that they are not even thinken about it changen that......

Comming to think about it quad, 16v bat. and unlimited amps is the reasons why I want to move up in to Super Street, so that I can play with real power. PS I most say for the record I am not getting ang sponsorship from RF or any other Cop. this new car that I go for the new class and all that will be going in it is all comming out my pocket....

I would agree that they are well established with 12 volt products. But as manufacturers who currently support our industry in this manner, telling them they can't sell a part of their line up that they have tooling costs, and standing inventory for our market would certainly piss them off. They offer products at different levels to meet competitors/customers individual needs. If you cut out a large portion of the product offering they have for our market it will no longer make good business sense for them to support DB Drag. If anything we need to give them incentive and a market for new cutting edge products, not limit what they can offer.

you can use that exact same argument for "quads" as well, but we dont seem to care about that...

Not really, there are only a few manufacturers that want to build quads. Battery manufacturers are more than happy to keep churning out 8v/16v batteries. Several of the car audio companies that sell batteries simply badge them amd make profit so, not the same thing at all.
