most of the equipment we use has no market relevance, things like jbl 6000gt amp, zapco 4kw or even the big visonik amp. how about 18 inch subs all together, im yet to see someone use 18's for daily driving.

Damn! I would like to get my hands on some 4ohm model 9.0s modded to the two ohm version instead of the straight 2 ohm versions I have now....
Oki, I didnt get a chance to meet you at finals, though I greatly wish that I had. I see what you are saying and I agree quads should stay for extreme and ss, they just should be banned for street.

i was dead set on building a superstreet 1-2 vehicle for 2004...but had been leaning against it as i dont have the time nor money to do heavy modifications like build downs, drive train maniupulation, etc...i just wouldnt be competitive enough keeping the vehicle somewhat street drivable
i sure wont be competing now because of banning quads...i dont have the money to take a loss on selling my amps and buying new ones...I JUST PURCHASED 8 VFL 150.1's

Jarod you really need to calm down. This discussion brings back some memories...I remember when I was a strong proponent of another controversial ruling that made people react in much the same way. This ruling was put into effect and all the bad things that were forcasted never came to pass. I'm sure everyone would really like to go back to the good ole days of POWER CLASSES.
The quad coil descision really is better for competitors and the industry as a whole even if you refuse to see/admit it.

I have a feeling that this is due to some manufacturers. Doesn't sound like a desision that would be made without someone threatening funding somewhere.
What is this coming to????? I remember someonew saying where do we draw the line.........I guess right HERE.
(Alan remember though - 2 1501d's with adequate voltage behind them will produce the same power as a single JBL, so things aren't as limited. Also you won't be at a power disadvantage with the RFL's anymore, so I think the RFL is going to make a HUGE showing next year.)
But then again look at all the money invested up until this point in quads and those who now must sell them...

Real racing is different. 99% of the high level teams have sponsor to give them a budget well into the millions to go racing. We do this because we love to. Now some of us wont be in it since we cant afford to anymore. I own 4 quads and 10 bd 1500's that are pretty much worthless. I have never gotten free equipment. just to recone my dd's is going to cost $1000. That doesnt include the cost of either us amps or a crowns , or something else to get the power per driver back where i need it. And before any says i dont need to. If i dont ,there will be guys who get the power and they will win.

chris, roger called me man, i hope you didn't take offense to any i said, i surely did not mean to offend you. i just disagree with your statements. i do try to look at both sides of the spectrum, maybe a little bit more of my own well being, but i try to stray from that.
i really do think this will hurt the sales of the 1000d amps. the main complaint against dbdrag was the amount of money it costs to compete. now it costs more.
i do repect you chris, i think crossfire is a great product, but i just can't see eye to eye with this matter.
i would also like to apologize if i offended anyone else today, i do take this hard, dbdrag means alot to me, hurts me to think of not competing, but i do think this is the wrong course of action.

as what i hope to be my final post in these matters, i call out the Companies. support your competitors, alot of people ahve quads, and they put alot of their money and time into competing. i call out on all the companies who have made quads for competitors to change them back into dvc's @ no cost. since this was apparently companys making this decision with wayne, it is the honorable thing to do.

All the 2003 world record holders from europe did the WR's with dual coils, so no big change here. Sounds like a big change but I think this will benefit the sport and industry in the long term.
