Some sort of clarification could be useful. Some vehicles that are Street legal in the US (Explorer, etc) are classified as Commercial vehicles in other countries which rules out their usage in Street classes.

In Australia (where I come from) every 4WD vehicle & pickup truck is classified as Commercial or Light Commercial. This includes Suzuki Vitara/Jimny, Ford Explorer, GMC Suburban, all of which I have seen in Street classes in the US.
Other vehicles such as the Daihatsu Mira 2 seater/2 door and Subaru Fiori 2 seater/2 door are also classified as light commercial.

While I benefit nothing from this (being a SS-NW competitor next season) it'd surely help others over here, and in other countries, to have some sort of solid description of what constitutes commercial.

A "comerical vehicle" is a vehicle that has been modified from its "factory state" to use it for a business use and/or that has no interior panels in the "cargo area" of a van/box van and/or a vehicle that has no windows from the rear of the front doors on back which is also called a "cargo van".

Here are some examples of comercial vehicles here in the U.S. that could not be ran in street...
-ambulance
-hurst
-school bus
-delivery trucks such as UPS or Fedex trucks
-TheBigOki's Super Street 1-2 vehicle. [Smile]

I hope this helps out.

i am also an aussie and i have this question

i have a hyundai excel panel van according to the id plates

this is the 2 seater version of the normal 5 seater excel

as far as i can tell the car came out with the panels on the sides of the back (which have now been cut out and have aftermarket windows fitted)

that is the only modification that i know of since factory

could this car compete in street class?

Does it have carpet and interior panels in the back half?

I remember an armored car in extreme but i don't think it would be legal in superstreet.

I think I have a different opinion on commercial classifications. I think that any car run by a shop or shop owner should be considered commercial for ruling on a street class car.

If you think bigger or armored is louder you guys have lost your freakin' mind [Wink]

How about an ice cream truck? [Big Grin] drive around town handing out dB's

I've seen a bread truck, a milk truck in SS ( see above ). And yes, a armored truck is legal for SS.

I have lost my freakin mind.......in the corn.........

I just thought a short bus might have a big enough wall to actually have enough port for 9 woofers. If I'm so crazy why do you see the same sized port in SS 34 as you do in 9 plus???? I don't think it is cause a smaller port is louder.......look at ss 1-2.

Maybe a guy would like to have his 9 woofers with at LEAST 200 inches of port for EACH one?????

That is a whole lot of air space in front of the wall to compress in order to achieve high spl in a vehicle like that.

Now an ambulance on a van body might do the trick. [Big Grin]
