For example someones remote malfunctions due to dead aaa batts or the car batt. was dead going into the burp.
And the poor guy or gal is unable to post a score.
I hate seeing this.
How about:
"The competitor at His or Her discretion may request a time out so that the other competitor may fix a remote control or dead car battery if they are unable to post a score in the lanes"
"The time out is limited to 15 minutes to fix the problem"
Like I said I hate winning due to somebody elses remote or equipment malfunction.

What about a time-out for competitors that are bad little boys and girls? Wayne could be like the daddy and celise could be the mommy, they would decide who had to go to timeout and for how long.

I love it when people make excuses....they have been talking smack for SO long that it's "grown mold" and then they use excuses to "not look so bad"

my question is this? Do you go to a baseball game with no glove? Do you go play foot ball with out a ball? do you go to a drag race with out turning on your bottle? the nswer to all these is NO....

you don't go to a show set up to lose, if your in the lanes and your car bttery is dead...???how did the car get to the lanes????? batteries in the remote? well, yes, but no...have a compition only set, tht you replace after very couple uses... again, you don't go to a car compition set up to lose...

this is a sport, come ready, or go home pissed, but it shouldn't be any other way. For exsample, I was doing some work at a local show (rewiring the ohm load to the amp) in the process I unhooked all the RCA's. Well, I went into the lanes with only one amp (in SS) and put up a ****ty number, sould I get a second chance? or Should I hve been ready and had the car done and tested BEFORE I got into the lanes....(I was fortinate to be granted a rerun, BUT i didn't ask for this nor expected it) I screwed up, next time...I didn't....you want to see someone learn how to compete fast? Screw up a few times....you either learn, or you go home unhappy.

well it is up to the head judge in a 1x but if it happends in a elimination rould then thats the bad thing you just have to bite the bullet in that case and for 2x 3 x i thing that u give them only 10 min to fix the prob or you will lose 1/2 db for every 1 min and if it happends in eliminations then you have to bite the bullet in that case to!!

Ok Now in the time out what happens to the guy that got his system to play and now has batts that are a bit down from the voltage before the time out?

What happens if his score drops a tenth or to and then get beaten?

I have been to a show where someone had a dead batt in his remote and I gave him the battery out of my remote and used one of my other remotes.

I also have like 4 spare batts in the pocket of my door now!! [Big Grin]

They call it racing.

NHRA. If the guy next to you blows is motor, red lights or spins out should he be granted another run? No.

So far this is the craziest idea yet [Roll Eyes]

I couldn't agree more, and I left finals PISSED. (Malfunction that hadn't happened all season decided to kill my finals hopes...so I bit the bullet and got my teeth broken in. Big Whoop, crap happens. I delt with it and moved on...

To the origional poster, I believe that the rules state that if in you qualifying rounds your score does not exceed 130db, meaning you had a problem, it is up to the judge's discression to grant your or not grant you a rerun. If such a problem occurs during the eliminations, the result of those eliminations should stand. As they say, crap happens...

The rules do not say this. I do however let people re-qualify at singles and multi-point events. During World Finals and the time constraints time doesn't allow for this.

2003 rulebook:

13-5            Setup and Teardown Times at Multi-Point Events – Competitors may be required to setup and teardown within a specified period of time at multi-point events. The amount of time allocated for setup and teardown, and the penalty for exceeding these time limits will be specified by the show promoter prior to the beginning of the competition.

That would enable someone to check out his gear before going to the lanes. I belive that a minor timeout rule should be in place but 15 minutes is way too long. 5 minutes could be better due to time issues in most shows I think that it's not every one who would like to see a show being 3 hours longer due to equipement malfunction. Time is not something everyone can afford.
