and i would like a 15v limit in street classes

My wifes Explorer charges at 15.1V with a factory electrical system and a Wal-Mart battery. Whats up with that? [Eek!]
Sometimes my Ranger hits 15 volts when its cold out (Ranger's and Explorer's are very similiar)..

If I remember correctly, at AudioThunder last year (when it was freeezing cold on that last day) my voltage was at 15.1-15.2 when the judge clamped the multimeter on.

As for the proposed changes:
#1. - I agree.

#2. - No comment.

#3. - I agree. But, if we are going to allow a pair of woofers in a class called street 3-4, I think we need to come up with some new names. Such as Street 1 and Street 2 - or something similiar that will help eliminate possible confusion.

#4. - I do not agree with the addition of any batteries or aftermarket/upgraded alternators in the street class. I feel that such changes will make the street class "feel" more like superstreet.

#5. - I do not agree with using the Enduro format in the street class. I feel that it will cause too much damage to the competitors vehicles (stock alternators won't stand a chance) and equipment. This could discourage people from competing.

#6. - I think this is a great idea.

#7. - I agree with allowing quads in SS and limiting the number of coils to 4. But I feel that there should be no limit in the Extreme class. The Extreme class is meant to be "Extreme", don't limit the capabilities of this class by imposing a restriction.

I guess thats all for now, thanks for reading.

I don't really post much on these boards.. but figurin as how im a dbdrag member might as well put down my 2 cents

1. Yeah. Lots of comps I went to barely had anyone in these categories.

2. Yep.

3. Absolutley! Just cause I bought a 15" Brahma I had to sit out because I had no chance in hell at the time [Razz] (But thats differnt now)

4. Not so much allow an extra .. rather a limit? 2 non dry-cell's or 1 dry-cell. As for Alt's, some cars got 70amp alts, some got 130's... Again I' would impose a static # restriction. (say 140amp max)

5. This would be extremly dangerous to those whom had nothing to do with their current install (I always see at least2 of these guys a show, paid a shop 4grand and got a entry-level setup). I'm for it as long as it's an optional class.

6. Excellent Idea.

7. Doesn't affect me.

8. Need to be more... Strict on the Bail rule. I've seen to many disputs dropped and wrong people awarded because of this.

Change is a good thing [Smile]

The classes were here when we stated competing in db drag, and there will always be changes some good some bad,but all we have to say is ther will always be someone that has the competetive itch to be no 1,and the only way to be no 1 is to try different things, its dec already and soon it will be jan, they need to finalize the rule changes so we can all decide the classes for this season, thanks for reading,

1) yes
2) yes
3) no
4) no
5) leave it the same
6) no
7) no limitation
8) yes, let's clean up those greys

overall, i feel that the street class is fine just like it is. the move up rule seems to be a little "pushy", but other than that, street class is fine the way it is.
i always wondered why extreme changed to 9-12 and 13+. it always made more sense to me to keep it identical to super street as far as catagories go.

There is only three changes needed for street class....

1.remove the move up rule.....cant enforce it anyhow
2.add the single 15 to street 1-2 and 2 15s to street 3-4
3.outlaw any amp that produces more than 3000wts rms......This is needed with the advent of the EQ D4, D6, D8, JBL/crown and the current big boy the 4kwt Zapco.......

you know what, i changed my mind. doing away with the move up rule in street will bring things into the street class that were never meant to be there. some of you already know what i mean.
i say leave the street class just as it is. if it ain't broke, then don't fix it. if it don't fit, then you must aquit. don't forget to flush. yada yada.

Basicaly..if an amp is listed or known to produce more than 3000wts prohibit it in street 1-2 and alow one in 3-4 unless it is known to produce more than 6000wts then bann it in street class all together....

that would be a good idea, but could it be enforced? whats to stop manufactures of saying its 400 watts and it really be 4000 watts?

I just hope the rules are decided on soon.. so we can start planning for next year..

True...but when someone does that...how long do you think it would be before one of us would find out about it and post it on te forum or e-mail wayne about it...all it would end up doing is looking very bad for the company in question....for every one competitor that will keep quiet and use the new cheater amp to his advantage there will be at least 10+ honest ones who will bring it to the DB Drags attention.....

So how close are we getting?????
My only thought is just about the realllllllly expensive street amps, maybe a street pro class???
Right now there are just a few outragous amps, I agree not to limit the retailers or the manufacturers to sell such amps, but the street class is what most people start in, and to lose by over 10db to one of these amps at every comp they go in, in their area has to be discouraging, especially when they know damn well they can never get their hands on one of those "elite" amps that the big boys have got, let's face it, they are damn near a ticket to the winners circle, and it doesn't seem fair in that class.

I too want the "cheater" amps banned... In Australia, all it will take to win is one of these. Someone just needs the money to import one. Us real Street competitors are still using "normal" amps, and the EQ D2is about the best amp we can really get. Especially considering the best Stree 1-2 scores here are no more than 150dB [Frown]

I agree with letting 1x 15" into Street 1-2 and 2x15" in S3-4 aswell.

As for the battery/alt, no to th ALt, and yes to 2 batteries.

1 x Hertz HS300 12"
1 x Blaupunk Burning Desire

1 x 147.5dB

150's is the aim, S1-2 is the game...

Well i have seen many a street newbie get pasted by 10dbs by someone running nothing more than a D2.....with about 3dbs of the loss being from the amp and the other 7 being all install....

The only changes i feel are good for street is the addition of 15s and banning some of the monster amps......the alt upgrade and extra batt will cause more trouble than they are worth....

I don't understand how it was made clear that no big changes are going to made this year, and now the street class is basically being totally redone.. [Confused]
