3-2 No partitions or other barriers may divide or compartmentalize the passenger compartment. (Intent: The listening environment should approximate that found in a typical vehicle.)

Additional Guidelines:

· A minimum unobstructed area of at least 4 square feet must be provided between the driver’s side of the vehicle and the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

Does this have to be in one area? Or can the 4 sq ft be divided into 2 - 2 sq ft areas? Some competitors have a center console to roof brace

Steve, 4 square feet total.

The VC limit is part of the equation for limiting overall power in the Street Division. Please see my other post requesting info on bridged amps. Some of the big monster amps may be in violation of existing rules. I need to know. Thanks.

Look for typos, omissions, or other loopholes that we missed.

6-7g Replacing the OEM alternator with a high-output alternator, or “beefing up” the OEM alternator is prohibited

does this include switching original regulator with aftermarket Variable voltage regulators( Mr. Charge, LADAC etc.)??

5-4 The program material must be reproduced using conventional loudspeakers (subwoofers). The determination as to whether a loudspeaker is acceptable for use in dB Drag Racing competition shall be at the sole discretion of the dBDRA.

Additional Guidelines:

· Loudspeakers incorporating more than 4 discrete voice coils are prohibited. (Loudspeakers are limited to a maximum of 2 discrete voice coils in the Street Division.)

Street class is limit to 2 voice coils.. any other division can use 4.. and since you have more than 1 amp im assuming you were planning on competing in a class other than street.

Dude you misread the rule...quads are allowed but not more then 4 voice coils...the 2 coil limit is only in street class

Tor,

Expanding foam may be used in the judges ears when dumb Americans are are burping their systems during mic placement [Smile]

3-10d Nothing must obstruct the driver’s (or passenger’s) view through the windshield or side windows of the vehicle. (Window bracing and floor-to-roof bracing is acceptable provided their use does not violate any other applicable rules.)
Additional Guidelines:
· Build-downs that impede the driver’s (or passenger’s) view will be considered an obstruction, even if the material being used is transparent in nature.

I think the word impede needs to be changed to clarify this one, if your intent is to get rid of the plexi boxes.

3-8a
Sound damping materials may be used to reduce vibration when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended installation instructions. For mat-type materials, the total thickness of all layers applied at a given point may not exceed 1/8 inch. For spray-on materials, a maximum spray thickness of 1/8 inch may be used. (Only one type of sound damping material may be used at a given point.)

One layer of most good dynamat is greater than 1/8th inch. We have no sound deadener, so this doesnt affect our van, but will affect every customer I try to sell sound deadening to. Maybe it shoud be no more than 3/8" .

I also think that names of the street class need to be changed as two 15" woofers doesnt constitute 3-4 woofers.

How about Street 1 and Street 2 or something similar.

I agree on all of these points, one should be able to use at least one layer of common dampening material. Maybe 1/4" (6.35mm for us using the metric system) is more reasonable for mat type materials? And by the way, who will determine how thick the dampening is? Will this go by manufacturers specification or what?

And the names for the street classes sure will confuse a lot of people if they haven't been involved in dB Drag Racing before. I think they should change, maybe Street A and Street B or something like that.

I dont understand the 4 ft2 rule for extreme... do you mean that there has to be 4ft2 from drivers door to passengers door? or 2 ft2 from drivers door to drivers side console, and the same for the passenger side, for a total of 4ft2? Maybe I am just not thinking about this in the right way. Someone please explain.

I AGREE ABOUT THE RENAMING OF THE STEET CLASSES, BUT I DO NOT AGREE WITH BOBBY ABOUT THE USE OF 3/8 INCH OF DYNAMAT. I THINK 1/8 INCH IS FINE.

1/8"=.125
DYNAMAT ORIGINAL IS .07 THICK
DYNAMAT XTREME IS .044 THICK
DYNASHIELD SPRAY THICKNESS IS RECOMMENDED AT .07 THICK
EXTREMELINER IS .392 THICK
SO YOU COULD STILL USE TWO LAYERS OF DYNAMAT XTREME.
YOU CAN'T USE EXTREMELINER
