Ok, I have some questions regarding the judging.
Let's say a have a system that meets all of the install requirements and with pink noise will do a exactly 136 on the meter in all bands of the RTA at the judging location.
By my understanding, if I was allowed to use pink noise (I'm not), then that would be a perfect score.
So let's take the "perfect" system from above and then play music on it. Obviously not all frequencies will be the same volume or play all the time. I know that it is a 30 second run, my question is how the scoring is done:
If we look at each band of the RTA, is it on peak hold for the 30 seconds, or on average. By the way I read the rules, it's on average. Which means that to get the best score, each "band" of the RTA must play for the same amount of time at the same volume (have the same average score). Finding music that does this would be almost impossible, therefore it is a matter of adjusting the EQ to make the average over the song you want to use work out for the meter.
So this competition is about adjusting EQ's to particular songs to make get a flat response on the meter, even though it might sound horrible.
So someone like Tommie McKinnie, sitting there blasting his In the Air Tonight, could concievably get beat by a simple system with a 31 band EQ and someone that took the time to equalize each band to work for the song, even though some notes would sound much louder than others (remember, average RTA). So the "street pounder" that this competition was created for (as well as sell a bunch of RTA meters) will get beat buy a less impressive system that sounds way worse to the person observing the competition.
I'm sorry, I'm just really confused.

Yes you could adjust the EQ until you're blue in the face but the RTA is outside the vehicle meaning that there are going to be uncontrolable variables like people talking, birds chirping, even the direction of the wind plays a role in how the meter sees the level of a freq. at 10ft. That is why I like this format you just show up and "run what you brung" it won't really matter if you have $1000 or $100,000 into your system you could compete against the same people with the same equipment every weekend the hole season and someone different could win every time
