As you know, competitors must accrue a minimum number of points AND have one of the top Certified SPL's in their class in order to be invited to the World Finals.
In 2001, Certified SPL's could be established at all multipoint events. This included 2X and 3X events.
In 2002, the dBDRA would like to restrict certified scores to 3X events only. In other words, the only way you could establish a certified SPL would be to attend a 3X event.
Here are the reasons we would like to see this happen...
Better attendance at 3X events.
More consistent judging.
Improved legitimacy for Certified Scores.
2X events would be for points only.
What are your thoughts on this? Please try to be clear and concise in your presentation. In addition, please include your dB Drag Racing STATS button (and link) in your signature.

I feel this is a great idea. A dBdrag staff memeber is present at all 3x events, which in general makes the events run better, with more accurate scores (because of calibration regularly, more knowledgeable judged, etc) 2x events can be just for points, thats great, might not have as many 2x events though. This will probably mean you will need a few more 3x events, especially towards the end of the season.

I see no problem with restricting certified scores to triple point events as long as there are enough events to cover a majority of the country, giving everyone a fair and somewhat equal chance. *cough*Michigan*cough* Posts: 3918 | From: MI , USA | Registered: Jun 2000

Certified scores at 3x only..let the 2x be points only...just don't let 3x shows get out of hand but make if fair around the country for people to attend.
Also, if possible have one particular meter be at every 3x show that way everyone is on the same meter all the time.

it costs major money to compete as it is with all the driving we do.the cost of competing in the extreme class is atleast triple that of the rest of the classes but that is what we chose to do.so unless you flood the different areas with triple pointers i would prefer to leave it as it was for 2001

It sounds good but as said before. The main reason people held a 2x was for certified scores. Without that you will see an increase in 3x's and a decrease in 2x's.
The only other down fall is the cost to run a 3x compared to a 2x. This may restrict the amount of multi-point events held. I would also look into the fees. Not two many shops want to pay the fees to run a 3x. This is why we saw an increase in 2x's.

Also I liked the idea of 12 triple point evenrs (3 in each continental time zone) that was discussed in chat. Double point shows can be set up as a reward for local competitors as a local final, plus gives the opportunity for a few extra points.

im all for that certified at a 3 only, but i know it MIGHT bite me in the butt if my local shop (car toys) decides not to hold any 3x events due the the lack of attendance from last years. and if the do hold 2 in my area again next year i would love to see a larger attendance.

THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA. Just because it puts canadians at a huge disadvantage...sure we have audiothunder but if things were to go that way then I would say that each state would need to have at least 2 triples per year and 3 in Canada...and there just aren't enough people willing to hold triple point events (I don't think) and if Canadians were forced to have only one chance to qualify that would be BS (espeically since Audiothunder is at the beginning of the season and what is a good score at the beginning won't qualify for finals by the end of the season)...even if we drove 8 hours one way to get to another triple if the mics are like 2db low (which they sometimes are) then it was pointless. if triples are required for finals then there will have to be as many triples this year as there were certified events last year, and that is alot of triples

What is now with the rest of the "db Drag world" ?
Can international competitors compete now without points and certified scores? Or make it happen, that all Countries outside the "US" continent HAVE certified events.
I dont want this "trouble" from this year again, when I "try" to participate in 2002.
And I think, there may be some cars more, than mine...

helo this is BEN SAMS don't have time to put up my stats button. But I think this is a excellent idea. you will maintain more fairness in judging..along with eliminating the he said she said effect from different rules at 2x and 3x points events scince their will be a world finals judge at all of the 3x events if this passes.

how about if there was only one triple point allowed per weekend ??? no more of two or three triples the same weekend, 500 miles apart. It would definatly increase attendance.

also, to the guy who said 3 triples per time zone...well we have AudioThunder and SBN in one Timezone (not sure about Padre) but that would mean that the East would only get one more triple between April and October...not a good plan. If I were planning to hold an event I would book it now for next September because holding a triple way before finals would then be a waste of time

I had brought up the time zone shows a while back. I think it could work out, but what i wouldn't do is count certain shows that have been going on for a long time against the time zone rule, like audiothunder, daytona and padre... those are given events every year for god knows how many years...
