Each year, the dBDRA evaluates the results from the priror season in an effort to determine if any rules changes and/or additions are necessary for the upcoming season. This forum has been created to give those individuals who have a vested interest in dB Drag Racing (Competitors, Retailers, Event Promoters, Manufacturers) a place where they can discuss ideas and suggestions for making dB Drag Racing better.

We believe that the 2001 rules worked extremely well. Therefore, we would like to see minimal changes to the rules for the 2002 season. This will result in stability for the competitors, judges, and the dBDRA. Additional examples and clarifications will be added to the rule book in a continuing effort to eliminate "gray areas" or loopholes that may be exploited. In addition, the rule book will be formatted differently in 2002. The rule book will be divided into 3 main sections; one for each division of competition. Each section will contain the complete rules for that specific division of competition. While this will result in more pages, it will be much easier to read.

To ensure that discussion remains focused, only the dBDRA may create topics for discussion in this forum, although anyone may reply.

If you are a competitor, please include the dB Drag Racing "Stats" button in your signature. This will ensure that your input is taken seriously. (Since user names on this forum are not "real", this is the only way we have to determine if you are serious about dB Drag Racing.

Finally, please keep in mind that the charter for the dBDRA is to promote interest and participation in auto sound and auto sound competition.

Thanks in advance.

Please also include in the worldwide rulebook, things that make it easyier for the rest of world to work with the rules.

IE, points? what good are these for ROW?

Multi point events for ROW? there dosnt seem to be many outside of the Americas. This makes complying to some rules very difficult at times, as if every event is a single pointer, the intent can be missed with things like frequncy limit.

Also, could you include all the things that you have stated throughout the year, like all national finals are multipointers, the Euro finals is 4x, and non americas competitors dont need to qualify to attend the World finals? (unless the rules are changed to give the ROW some events to get the qualification nessesary)

I agree, that the rules are fine, and its only the grey areas like ROW that need tidying up.

Thanks.

The one item that I felt that was unfair at several events I attended was the grouping of Super Street 1-2 Wall and No Wall groups. If only one or two cars had a wall they the two groups were put together. I received two second place trophies having to compete with a walled vehicle in my class. I am a true no-wall competitor.

Can we have a way to bring up topics we think should be discussed?

Such as:
Certified Scores
-Should we keep double pointers as certified events?
-How many certified events should we have for 2002?
-Can we get all of the certfied shows to use the same mics to ensure consistancy?

Events
-How many events should a shop be allowed to hold?
-What will it take for a shop to hold a certified 3X show?

Finals
-Should we decrease the number of competitors at finals? [i.e.- As Wayne put it in chat, "To give each competitor at finals a greater chance to be in the limelight"]
-How many points should it take to make finals?
-Do we want to reinstate a point multiplier for less advantaged areas?

Equipment
-Should we allow modified equipment? [i.e.-developing products, custom made woofers, ect.]

These are just a few I think should be discussed

Wayne, I think this needs to be brought up to discussion
quote:
FROM 2001 RULESCompetitors who qualify for the World Finals must move up into either the Super Street or Extreme Divisions the following season. Once a competitor has moved up, they may no longer compete in the Street Division.

How is this going to be enforced?

This would be very negative. Competitors should encourage local business men to promote DBDRAG. Or an event promoter inthe area should be more out going in trying to get Car Audio businesses to host events.

Competitors should not be punished for living in an area that holds alot of db drags by forcing them to spend twice as much money attending twice as many events to get the same invitation to finals.

cartunes........goto "costomize stats page" on the termpro.com website under member only. login and near the bottom it has the url and stuff you need, just cut and past into your profile.

of course that's after you renew your membership of course!

wayne,
i really support forming a single sub class. to see how hard one woofer can hit, i think it would be a highly competitive fun class that many can join. here we're all about spl. most spl subs run $300+ not to mention amps to seriously compete run at least another $300+. bottom line, serious money is needed for multi sub setups were as a single sub setup can be done much cheaper. for this reason i think many more people could and would compete in this catagory. not to mention many small cars can't fit 2 15's with big ported spl boxes.

i think it would be a great way for people to seriously compete, and would be watched by many.

please consider.

I think there should be a class for oddities like subs bigger than 15 inchs.

They are at a disadvantage.

Only offer it a bigger events though then consider offering it more often.

I have seen great systems that hit ultra low but could not compete because they hit so low that could not keep up with the smaller subs.

I just want to state that some of us from other parts of the world have certain problems with stats button, but that doesn't mean that we are not active members.

Ah yes, good point.

Most foriegn competitors wont be members, but we still use the same rules.

Should there be a seperate discussion for forign competitors, who will still have views, when we all use the same rules?

Yes., one amp.,1500 watt limit.,one sub and one oem or equiv. batt.
I do wish that since i have a 1998 chevrolet cavalier two door car., and since i can remove both sections of the rear seat with no tools except my bare hands., even when drunk at home., that the rules were to permit that if a rear seat can be removed with no tools., and reinstalled in the same fashion ., that it be considered the same as a consumer removable oem seat.
Time to remove and reinstall both sections of the rear seat is under one minute.
Please no flame.
