If you make it nearly unattainable...alot of people will say the hell with it and that may have an adverse affect on alot of small local 1X shows...
Think about it...should I pay $25 just to get metered when I could go to a local shop for that...?? I'll just go watch this year because I know realistically that I won't be able to get 150 points...

But it's FINALS.........Not everyone has the "magic" to make it.......I repeat again if it's too easy to make it then why take all the time , energy and money to be just like everyone else??

Stole the words out of my mouth. 100 should stay, the hardest thing to do nowadays is to get a score high enough that is certified. And that is how it should be.

I understand not eerybody has the magic to make it...but at 100 points at least it's within reach if you also hit a high enough SPL level...at 150 points even if I do hit a high enough number I know I can't accummulate 150 points period...so why should I or other folks in this same situation pay $25 at each show if we can't realistically go to enough shows to make that many points...?? I think that will take away fromthe paying numbers of competitiors at some of the 1X events...

Don't we want the 15 loudest (or 8 loudest) vehicles in their class to attend finals? I think the points required is just so that they will support the local retailer and attend shows. What Wayne is saying by this post is that too many people are only attending doubles and triples and the single point shows are having a very low turnout. So maybe 150 points is too much, but you would be sure to have 20-30 people show up at a local show when they're all chasing points. I know that if it gets raised to 150 points, there's going to be a lot of crazy stuff going on at some shows here in the Midwest (Missouri especially).

I think 100 points is enough, why ? we all have a life other than dbdragracing, even though this is my hobbie, it is also nice to spend time doing other things... Dont get me wrong i love dbdrags but my family come first and if the stakes a rissen, that doesnt leave alot of time at the home front in the summer, do the math, you would have to be gone almost every weekend, enless it was warm all year around,(where im from) its not...so thats it ! my 2 cents worth! lol

I just renewed my membership today... still can't get into to put my stats button up here, but I have waited until I renewed to post.... my vote on this subject is to keep it at 100 points, or at the very most, to bump it to 125 points.
I have a family as well, and a shop to run... sometimes it may prove to be a little difficult to get 150 points or more. (watch, I will get those points now... lol!!)

Ya` know, Donald, judging by the things I've heard Wayne say in person, and over the phone, and what I've read by him on this forum, I'd say that we are in no way holding up his decision making process, he'll do what he wants and in his own time, and I really don't think we are going to cause any harm if we continue to discuss these issues, because next year we'll be right here doing this all over again, and who knows, Maybe some of these later issues/ideas posted may have some impact, if not on this season's rules, maybe on next season's, so if you have any last minute items you want heard or discussed, let's hear them! ________________________________________________________________

I am going to have to agree with this. This is probally the main reason why we don't see to many veterans from years past still competing. We should not force people to go to local events. We should leave it up to the stores to promote and bring in new competitors. This will make everyone happy. This also gives the little guys a chance at local events so they don't have to compete against World finalist week after week.

Earlier someone mentioned about competitors only being concerned with going only to multi-point events..... I personally do not see a problem with that. Here is why, lets just say that a person pretty much dominates his local area or State for that matter, and goes to every show, and constantly wins at every show. Wouldn't you think that the local (newbie) competitor would not want to step up to bat????
For my personal preference I mainly went to multi point shows last season, so I can compete with the more serious competitors who more than likely would be at those shows.
To me local shows should be more for newbies. So they can see what it is like and later, much like most of us, STEP UP TO BAT.

That typically happens anyway(about the memberships), the concern is the people that have families, children can not afford to make a show every other weekend. It gets to the point were DB Drag rules your life. I personally love the sport but I am also Single (advantage). Most people that are Married, have a girlfriend/boyfriend or kids need to spend time with those close to them. Not to mention the time it takes to build these cars. I used to get grief from women that I was only dating because I didn't have time for them or if I did it was when we went to a show. That is not fair to them but that was my choice. I don't agree with making people chose over their families.
This is again why I beleive we have lost alot of the serious veteran competitors in this sport.
As stated above the local shows are good starter shows for the new competitors. It gives them a winning advantage that will begin to get them hooked into this sport and allow it to grow.
