Okay..this is something that has come up in our area:
In placing the mic should it be parallel with the ground or parallel with the windshield or another surface?

The mic should be parallel to the ground. However, in some vehicles, or when using certain mic stands, it is not possible to do this and the mic may be angled slightly. It is not supposed to be perpendicular to the windshield, unless the windwhield is perpendicular to the ground.

In tests that I have made, it really doesn't make a difference in SPL anyway.
