I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on which outputs are better or are they the same. Thanks

Do you mean MosFETs vs. BJTs or TO-3 vs other packages. To-3 is just the package type, you can have BJT, FET, 3 terminal regulators.... anything in a TO-3 package. TO-3s are better at dissipating heat due to the large surface area, so they tend to be somewhat more reliable. But of course it depends heavily on how they are used.

i'm not too knowlegable about this subject, but i can tell you i have an mmats amp with t03 outputs, and it seems like it doesn't get as warm as past amps i've had. don't know if it's just my ears, but i think it sounds better than other amps i've had without t03 outputs. hope this helps

I appreciate this information and what I would like to know if you had the option of going with a MMATS LM4065 and a MMATS SMT2100 would you do that or just go with a single A/D/S PQ40.2? Let me know and thanks

Well the MMATS amps use a high power op-amp for the outputs. LM12 from National Semiconductor to be exact. I don't know much more about how the circuit is set up in the MMATs so I don't really have an opinion on using the LM12s instead of a more conventional BJT or FET. I do know that they are more costly than typical transistors and some of that is due to the TO3 package. And they are limited to 80w each. I have listened to a/d/s and MMATS amps and like listening to every other set of amps I didn't hear a difference. The LM12 will behave differently near clipping than BJTs and FETs but that will also depend on the circuit around the devices. I haven't heard of any reliability issues with either a/d/s or MMATS so in my opinion I think the choice would come down to power, features, and cosmetics.

So which outputs are supposed to handle clipping better? I don't know but I really like the A/D/S PQ40.2. Its down between that amp and 1 MMATS LM4035 bridged X2 and another MMATS SMT2100. I figure the MMATS amps will put out a little more power but the A/D/S amp will have a better crossover section. Would you consider A/D/S amps underrated? I like for my music to sound very dynamic and I am kinda afraid that dropping down in power is going to kill me on this one because I did previously use 2 USamps 4300x's. Thanks

So should i notice a major difference in the sound going from 180 watts X 2 for both front and rear fill. My new setup would be 120watts X 2 to the front fill and then 100watts X 2 to the rear fill. Will I notice a major difference?
