if you already have a very stout compressor, it can be very handy to have a chop-mat gun when working on molds or larger workpieces

I was looking at the dry hand held chopper and a "gel gun" for 3-400 bucks it sure looks like its less messy and faster....I used 4 gals or res in a week and a half...time to step up...got 2 more f/g boxes to do this week/ weekend...I don't have room for the big setup like the boat guys use, or the $$ I was thinking about making a mold for the spare tire compartmt on the hondas...lots are coming into the shop...and they like the f/g box.

We have a chopper at the shop but we still use heavy weight mat alot.It is convient to have the gun to do a quick mold.We still use the pour method for appling resin though it seems to be the best way to get good penetration throughout the mat.

It is messy as crap to spray resin. If you are doing something inside the car, you better have the whole car taped up and covered in plastic.

They CAN be convienient, but only when used correctly.

If used improperly you can have an off resin to mat ratio, which makes for a inferior part.(Easily breakable)

Practice makes perfect.
