The triangle and multiple square ports came into effect with the strokers. I believe it was the late great John Fairchild who brought these designs. Before this people were just cramming as many woofers into a sealed wall as they could. Mr. Fairchild incorporated ports into the equation and the stroker pretty much had a 3 year run(94-97) where nothing touched it. This broke around 1998 when DD became a very popular choice for spl woofers.
From the square/triangle ports in the wall to get as much port as possible became tubes to utilize this more. It took a lot of work and effort to make these various baffles. So people started using one large port on the top and bottom of walls. In 99/00 XS SPL placed the port on the opposing mic side(driver's side) and that is where we get the enclosure port trend today.
6 degrees of car audio spl ports all started by John Fairchild and the Cerwin Vega Strokers.

Yup, back in 1994 he was my mentor and his place in enclosure design is well set. A great man indeed.

4 Stroker Pros 15 in my old Ü2 car. Video from 2006. Power is just 2 ZAPCO 9.0, 5000 Watts. (about 156 dB at the EAR, not on the dash)
PS.: I love the old Strokers more. WAY more than ANYTHING else to date. I still own over 30 of em! One day I will put my old "Big Bang" together again (8 18s in a Huuuge 7th order Bandpass)

if so I have watched that video like 50 or more times. That damn car can move some air. All thanks to the strokers. I've neva heard the older models. I am very pleased with the strokers and really love them because a lot of people dont use them and I am really happy about that. I like to have sumthing that others dont. you no what I mean. what was your box tuned at. what kind of batts were you using. how many runs of wire did u use how many alts did you have on that car was it strictly spl daily or both

John Fairchild, unfortunately, is 6 feet under! I knew him since 2000 and had good talks to him. RIP John!
No, that was the other car from the distributor. But it was waaaaay behind my car. He used about 8-10 000 Watts and I did just 5K.
It just shakes so much bc the car itself is very week. It really was no comparsion to the "Ü2". In my car you wasnt even able to recognize people standing outside.
Forgot to post that link. I just had 2 9.0 Amps on regular 12V System, 40A stock alternator. Car EVER was tuned more to music instead of SPL (just for the finals) It has, in the video, just 4 Optima blue top inside (from 1999), no engine running, just a 30A charger.
I also hear you on having something what others dont

PS.: The white car is in retirement since 2006. But I still have it and basically the whole stuff. I want to sell the enclosure (but without the pros) Then I have to take the car "away"...

so true. I hate going to a car shows and seeing like 20 or more cars with the same subs in them. It feels good to have cerwin vega in the ride cuz I am usually the only 1 at the shows wit it. Then you get talk around the car show grounds like " theres a ride over there and this guy got sum vegas in the ride" That just gets more ppl to come look at your **** and give comments.

couldn't agree with you more.I've been a fan of Strokers since my former coworker Mike Barfield was running them in his explorer back in the day.I think there's enough guys running FI's,T3's,and Incriminator Audio today. Why add to the monotony when you can be unique?

^^^^^ Thank you so much for agreeing with me man. I love to stand out and be different. I hate being in a caterorgy with like 20,000 others.
I really need to get my hands on a pair of dual 2ohms recones or just the subs. cuz all my subs are dual 4 and I only got about 1250 going to them. before I swapped my dual 2 cones for dual 4's I had 3000 going to that sub and it would just take it. So I can only immage what it would sound like if I had duals 2's/
Does anyone no where I can get sum dual 2's from. I called cerwin vega and all they got is dual 4's. I have 2 dual 2's recones but need 2 more.
