I don't own a shop but I've applied to one but they are in a hiring freeze. It's a college town and the owner said once the students start rolling back in, I should have a position. So that's all I can tell from a shop perspective.

my store's sales are down, my brother in law owns a store and his sales are down. i have quite a few business owner friends and all are saying the same thing.
everyone is hurting and we are at the bottom of the food chain.

Well I just opened a new location in small town usa...and from the day I opened this location I have been non stop! I sell RE audio and audiopipe and maxxsonics as well...I have been so bizy I have not even got a good sound room finished yet...with 3500 population I can't belive how I have done so well....but my other place was great for installs....it wasn't hot for retail sales...not much traffic....and they are just 7 miles apart...I don't have any other shops for 30+ miles and I'm the only shop in the county that can do custom stuff. They just do prefabs and that's it. So I'm counting my blessings and prayin it will last

[/QB][/QUOTE]What kind of comment is that??? this industry done it's self in!! for ten years now i have seen it go down hill the last four years it has dropped big time Obama was nowere near being in office the last two years we have seen Hundreds of shops go under out here! Rockford and other big audio mfg started losing ground over 3 years ago! once again i called it in my Car audio is dead upside down post, the Iraq War has played it's part, ebay,mfg,the internet,Apple ipod

I'm not a shop own but I work at a shop and we have been doing fine. Just finished up a huge job and have my schedule booked for the next three weeks. We had a small slow spell mid last month but that has been it so far.
Good old Quad the harbinger of doom.

The Industry as a whole is wayyyyyy down most mfg are holding on for dear life, a shop here and there doing well sure but as a whole this industry is on Life Support! were are all the car audio shows?? were are sponsorships, were are all the car audio magazines, many of the installers here were laid off months ago, why is rockford stock worth Nothing??? Pioneer,sony show record loss in there 12volt dept, yeah there is no recession too

Im doing crappy because of my city and the economy. Buffalo is ranked 2nd poorest city in the country. i am hanging on do to low overhead. Hoping for the business to take off come spring 2010 or Im done in buffalo.

Im doing crappy because of my city and the economy. Buffalo is ranked 2nd poorest city in the country. i am hanging on do to low overhead. Hoping for the business to take off come spring 2010 or Im done in buffalo.
if your area is busted...makes it tuff to get em to spend....i had to change up things to get the rod guys and boat guys and bike guys in....if it wasnt for them.....id be in the same boat...and i got some wireless home stuff too
