Ok so in small town usa I am just about ready to open a new location....no place with in the area a guy can even get a box made for his car...so nothing big n fancy...but a little show room. I was thinking....maybe a 4x8 room that was sound proof with some subs and amps in it with a bass knob....they can adjust till it hurts...what's you thought guys? A 18 with 2-3k would rock I think

tune it LOW. many people make the mistake of not tuning low enough for in-store demos

My last nice retail room the box I made for my pbx15 was like 4.7^ft at 32hz and it shook the place like crazy in the 30z n 40z...I u think I should make the room 1/4 wave length to the tuning? And only 7 ft tall I think...the place I have now is nice for install but location for retail stinks...this new retail is across from police station and one of the main drags n town...and did I say cheap! All block walls and little windows...not ez to smash n grab...ill keep most of the goods n the install location...7 mins away and on the way to the store...D ...u think 32 is low enuff or should I go home theater style n do 18 hz... Ganna do leds in the room and some F/G work for the wow factor...

I would down fire. You're going to get weird loading in the room if not.

Well with only a 4x8 room befor stuff...you think it will b that big of a deal? My last good retail location was a open 260 sq ft open room with sound board on one side...

i'd do a crazy "boom room" type deal.

Do a bunch of cheap subs

Cooks old room used to have 12 crossfire P1 12s on 3 crossfire 1000ds in big sealed boxes

Subs were kind of in a V and the door way was basically a port. Would do a 154 on the old mics in the door way [Big Grin]

Even though the room is small, you don't want the bass to be loading in the back corners behind the listener. I'm guessing that you are going to position the listener about 3/4 back from the front wall and centered in the room. IMO a down-firing box will give you full bass no matter where you are in the room. It will also eliminate the need to time align within the room to get the right sound.
