Yea, Fred...lol, I usually dont work for too long without getting distracted or something happens. If this wasn't an enclosure built around the car as I go and just a rectangular enclosure it'd be way finished by now.

But dont worry, it'll definitely be atleast to a point that I can compete the 17th..it should be finished in plenty of time.

As for not going with a pair of BTL's...they were on my list of subs but once the Omega's were on sale I had to jump on it and save a bit...though I loved my BTL and it never missed a beat, I may want to try out the new BTL's in the future and I have wanted to try out the DC Level 5's as well...they were also on my list.

More progress later [Smile]

I feel your pain Doug, I just cut and assembled my box, I still have quite a bit of work to do with the rounding of the edges and making it look puuurty.

I am looking forward to seeing an improved score from you in a little more than a week.

Thanks Fred, I'd hope it'd be louder lol...but the subs will pretty much be brand new, the trunk wont be sealed from the cabin and a lot of work will probably still need to be done until it's really showing how loud it can get.

And I hear ya Hank, I just didnt want to go for a wall quite yet..just wanted to keep things at the window line and with this setup the subs will be pretty much entirely hidden behind the seats and it would catch too many people's eye just walking by.

A little bit of progress from today but not too much, again...a lot of the day was me sitting down and calculating the port pieces to get the airspace/tuning I want..port will be probably in tomorrow and may start some fiberglassing on the inside of the enclosure.

Toar out the excess foam..

 -

Angled piece for the corner..

 -

Sealed around it..

 -

Decided the rear batteries didnt look mean enough...added some runs for any future battery+amp upgrades so the ground busbar wont have to be gotten to...may be a bit cramped with the port over it.

Laying out the port pieces..

 -

I got a couple pieces cut for the port so I could draw out the port on it and it looks like I have plenty of room for just about as long of a port as I want...may have to cut down some pieces to allow for a shorter port (no pics though)

are you going to do a small divider between the subs?
i was hoping to see you do an angle where it transfers into the trunk

Lol, thanks guys.

And yea, there will be a devider/support of sorts between the subs on the inside there..here's a couple looks at the enclosure on sketch-up to get a better picture

 -

 -

^That equates to 13 cubes net, tuned to 31Hz, with 200 sq inches of port. And the devider shown may be a bit small...I think the real thing will be slightly larger (wider)

And will you be at the comp the 17th Bill? should see a pretty healthy increase sealing your enclosure off from the trunk

It'll be no-sweat getting it done for next weekend [Smile] ...i'll probably have everything to a point to listen to it within 3 days or so

I think the biggest step now is filling in all of the screws holes and fiberglassing the inside. I may fiberglass the top of the outside as well.

I would have just done subs and port foward...

You don't need 200+ sq inches of port for an 11 cube box either...more port doesn't always mean its louder [Big Grin]

I would have left the rear deck intact, and just ran no wall, that way your car wont' fall in on itself if you ever get in a wreck

Thanks Boogie [Big Grin]

And yea, I left the main support untouched and just cut the sheet metal in the rear deck out...which would weakin it a bit I would say but I may be welding in some metal around the port opening to make up for it.

And the enclosure will be close to 13 cubes net...so 16ish sq inches per cube seems right on the money to me [Wink]

More pics in a bit from a little work today

Took the dremel and grinded down the screw heads flat in the port so I can just body filler and sand it smooth..

 -

Some body filler...not the prettiest thing but it'll all be sanded down..

 -

Support piece..

Mounted..

I do like the way you are pre drilling and fastening the panels in

Does it weaken the panels at all going in like that?

Yea the jig is quite handy for his build and as far as I know it doesnt weaken much besides the material being gone in the slits in the wood it makes
