Got it put in the car tonight. As you can see I have ALOT of cleanup from all the cutting/grinding/sanding!! It is tuned exactly to the previous tuning of 51 hz. I can't tell if its louder by ear but it feels like it's moving more air. I know the color doesn't match anything in the car. I just wanted it to stand out.

I would love to flare the inside but do to the limited space above and below the port there is no way to. I did use a grinder and bevel the interior of the port to give it a semi flare. I've learned ALOT from this box and next years comp box will be flared inside and out. If I can get this one over a 150 on the termlab I will be happy. I did make some gains from this port.

It's peaking at 51hz right now. Before the port flare was done I was peaking at 54hz and I am going to take some tube out to get it back to 54 again. I know most trunks peak lower than this but this car loves the mid fifties.
The amp is seeing about 6 ohm after impedence rise. I am clamping 1700 rms with a dirty signal. It is wired for 2 ohm nominal. There is no sound deadening but the trunk is completely sealed off with expanding foam and caulk.

Problem is twofold. The amp is 2 ohm stable and while it puts out good power, if I go down to a half ohm I will be seeing under a 2 ohm load (something around 1.75 or so). The electrical I have wasn't designed to push the current I might see and I don't want to fry my amp.
Also, I have to stay under 2050 watts rms in order to compete in the basic trunk class of midwestspl. Anything more and I'm dis-qualified. Just want to get this setup as efficient as possible.

i dont care what anyone says but that is a good, solid number. i think your next box with the inner flare will be decently louder as well.
congrats.

Drop the sub to .5 then set your volume or gain so you're seeing 2050 watts. You can always roll up the volume to the desired wattage. Instead of shrinking the port length maybe shrink the box volume a little.
