I want to know which amps are reliable and actually put out what there rated at. I know Hifonics are Overrated by 200-300 RMS. But i want to know which is better between the two. And Im comparing between new Soundstream amps .

The Hifonics amps aren't overrated at all. You just have to have the electrical to back them up along with a low impedence rise from your box.

which series of soundstream are you talking about cause most likely I would go with the new soundstream picasso or higher they are very good amps but do require a efficent power supply depending on how much power you are wanting but they are a little underrated in my opinion

Im Talking about the Picasso , Alot of people have told me that their overrated and they do not really put out 2000 RMS , more like 1500 RMS . Is that true ? And are the hifonics power hungry , im looking for something which is power efficient and puts out atleast 2000 RMS because i have a BMW E39 1999 528i and its impossible to build or find an alternator for that.

have you talked to Mechman about an alternator for it? If anyone can, I'm sure they could.
The hifonics brutus amps are quite efficient, but like any amplifier, you need a sufficient power supply to keep the input voltage to the amp high.

Right I was just going to ask if this guy was from caraudio.com or some other site were little kids post there thoughts with no data to back it up! There is competitor on here named Steve Mick he runs 16 picasso's for grand total of 32k watts and he must be getting the full 2k each amp becuase he's well into the 160's also road quake Jake runs the 2608D's and so do I and he just did 160 this summer that was at 12volts with 8 2608D's and 4 15" american bass subs, I know this becuase I seen it in person!

yep, Scottie very helpful. and if it's one of the rare vehicles they don't make one for, he'll refer you to someone who might....which would likely be Mechman.

Actually Steve told me the best he's seen out of a pair of those Soundstream amps is 1600 watts.

best amp on a budget is hands down the audiopipe 15001 or the dual mono 30001. i have never had a problem and they make power! have heard tests of 2700-2800 off 12v(car off) out of the 30001 bridged at 1ohm (ment to run 2ohm bridged). the cost on them is really low and i havent heard or seen one go bad.
