Hello, names Colby, am looking for a budget oriented SPL build for my ext. cab Ford Ranger without a wall or blocking rear window. Last time i went to the local store, I ended up with a 135 on 3 10" l7's .... any suggestions/opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

150 on the dash not only with that budget but with your constraint of size is not necessarily an easy feat - I believe it CAN be done, but it's not gonna be real easy and you've underestimated your box cost for sure....

150 might be a little unreal for a newbe. ( dont take it wrong)...you might do it if you do all the work...maybe some used stuff......but if you just need a amp. sub. and a box you can get loud with that.....look at audiopipe. and maxxonics.. 4 10's or 12's and the gp3000d pro...http://www.maxxsonics.com/crunch/GP_amps_details.html...of you got the room for the box that would rock or if you can swing o few more bucks... sq 12's

Don't forget that if your buying amps that are capable of some decent power you'll need batteries to back them up. I'll tell you from experience that those puppies aren't cheap. For a SPLish setup that's capable of 150's you're looking at spending around $600 or so just on decent batteries. Also your probably gonna need a couple of runs of 0 guage to help those batteries out. You'll have an easy $150 in wire for batts and the system overall. You may also need a high output alternator to charge those batts and help the amps get the power they need. One of those will more than likely set you back $250 or more for a better one. So that's around $1000 before you even get to any of the audio equiptment. You gotta think this stuff through. I have over $5K invested in my car right now and that includes batteries, wire, deck, cd changer, 4 channel amp, component set, subs, sub amp, box material, and not to mention other little odds and ends. I understand that I just listed a whole system and you may have some of these things already, but if you want to achieve a goal of 150 you're gonna need to upgrade what you've already got. With all my $ invested I'm currently siting at a personal best in my car at 148.6, and I could easily get the 150 without spending anymore money. I just like the way the setup sounds and I don't want to sacrafice a good loud daily setup to a fart machine. I could have made a better investment in an amp and I would no doubt be even closer to 150, but that'll come here very soon. I estimate in order for me to get a 150 without changing my box I'll need to sell my current amp and add two smaller amps to help with my crazy impedence rise. I could also add another AGM battery to help those amps make power. I estimate another $400 and I'll be at 150, but at an overall price for the entire system being around $6000. Get ready to dig deep into your pockets and be prepared not to eat cause a lot of the money you thought you had for other stuff will go to you trying to fill this obsession. 150 is doable on the budget that you mentioned, but you would have to get one hell of a deal on the equiptment and it would more than likely have to be a strictly burp vehicle. Good luck and if you need Crunch Ground Pounder 3000D I've got one for sale

There's your problem. That amp was only running @ 2.66 ohms. PUtting out about half the rated power. 800 watts split among 3 L7s is not nearly enough power.

but doubling the power wont even put him up to 140dbs. what ur laquing is a good enclosure. with the electrial equipment you will be fine with 1 battery. if you want to jump over 2krms a 2nd battery you will need and i recomend a kinetik or powermaster not optima.
ur enclosure should be tuned 40-42hz show some pix it has to be a mess of a enclosure to do such a low #. with 800rms and 3 10s you should still be close to a 40. if u need one built pm me if you want one designed post pix and measurments...
