you dont like high returns? last time i checked I tried to warrenty a powerbass xa-3000d because the caps fell off the board and one of the torroids shorted out on the case on an amp that was only a few months old but powerbass wouldn't warranty it, they blamed it on my install which they had never seen or heard about, kind of similar to what is happening in this topic. I think powerbass probably has the lowest return rate out of any car audio company because they wont warranty anything.
Wow.. I had an XA3000D go to hell just after a week of use.. they replaced the first one, and sent me a "new one" which failed after one use.. They also blamed me and my install for the failure. The second one I have now, you can actually hear something rattle around in it.. I got an RA number to get it fixed.. but why even waste my time.. I'd just rater be out the money I already wasted...

if you have a batch of product with the same defect unless you fix the defect, the next unit will do the same thing, when a mfg does not test or does not do Qc before the product is released the end user finds the problems 1st.

Listen, I'm new here. I've been here about 2 months and walked into this. I have a game plan to fix things, including our warranty and RA issues. All I ask is that you don't write us off yet.

I'll give you guys a bit of history on me; I came here from Eclipse R&D. I've been in the industry for about 18 years as both installer/designer and manufacturer. I know what it's like to turn away a brand after a single product year goes wrong for them. Now that I've seen it from the other side, i know why things happen. All I can do is promise to do my best, and turn out a quality product that i'm proud to put my name on. If it's not up to my specs then i won't release it.

yes I am. I'm on SDOT for personal reasons. I'm here as a representative of PowerBASS. Please don't get the two confused, I can be a real asshole in SD off topic, don't let that reflect on the company.

TC sounds had some legal issues, it didn't close due to Eclipse. Thilo has since reopened under AudioPulse (I think)

I had an issue with OZ audio back in '99 with there 15" subs, the banana clips were braking off during them shipping them to clients. Samuel an engineer for them admitted to the problem but they would not warranty them. Jay said he is now taking care of things there at Powerbass so there line will good again right Jay? [Smile]

I have the S-12D in front of me now, it's changing significantly for 09. Not the look so much (although we are getting rid of the costly aluminum magnet covers on the S, M and L lines), but the motor structure and VC's are all getting better. Better copper that will handle almost twice the heat. We are changing VC's across the board for 09 and 2010. I am getting the factory to improve QC before and after production and am doing 15% batch testing now on all product.

The ASA2000.1D had so many issues that we quit making it. I approved the new ASA2200.1D a month ago, and it's in production now.

Like I said, just give me some time, and our product will improve drastically.

I appreciate that all of you are actually giving me a chance here, some guys get one bad run and write off a brand forever.

Why would I spend money again on a product which was wrecked due to a manufacturing defect and not fixed under warranty?

have you ever seen a gigantic sign out in front of a store that used to suck really back, the sign says "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT"

if you've never seen this you're just not paying attention. It's a sign that is asking for you to give them another chance, because they are different now. Same location, same name, but new people. That's kinda what I'm asking now.

For the record, I am using the 3XL 6 1/2's, 3XL 6x9's, 2XL 15's and 1000.1D amp and have had no problems, and in an 04 Impala with a 2cuft box sealed (per speaker mind you) I am doing a 143.8 right now ...

Only problems I have is one of the terminals on one of the 15's broke (the retaining bolt actually snapped just from vibration), and the retaining bolts for the trim plate strip out too easily ... aside from that they have been great!

Jay. 2XL's 15", what cuft/box type do they get max SPL from?

3ft^3 per sub will give you a butterworth alignment. if you have them in a 2ft^3 box you can overpower them by about 30%. I've seen the speakers come back with terminal issues, I'm working on getting the factory to glue them on inaddition to screwing them. as for the trim ring screw, I think you may have turned it too tight, use some thread lock or JB weld to hold it in. The JB will harden and turn into thread after a few hours. If it keeps happening PM me, we can work out a warranty.
