On the first page of the invoice it states the damage to windshield, and also a scratch to the sunroof glass. What the hell does that have to do with a deck install? And if it is scratched from installing a deck than the installer needs to be bent over and taught a lesson. This is completely redicolous. I used to work at Best Buy and there are customers out there like this. If anything ever went wrong with a car that we did a remote start in and the customer took it to a dealership it was automatically our fault because the car had a remote start on it. This dealership is trying to rape this poor idiot, and he deserves it if he believe's anything that they are telling him.

an irrate installer thrown tools around pizzed off..lol..
dealers suck!!! i ve been to court 7 times over remote starts, dealerssaying the aftermarket add on caused the problem. "And i always won, took the car to another dealer, explained how the unit was installed, showed them the diagrams, and when they understood that theinstall could not cause the problem the other dealer stated, case dismissed and i got payed for my lost time from being in court. ended up costing the crooked dealer money...lol..
this is illegal, price gouging! fight it!!!!!!

i had an installer once install a remote start in a trailblazer when they first came out. He tried to poke a hole thru a gromet in the firewall to hook up a tach wire, but the moron put the wire thru the gromet for the main wire harness, and popped the gromet thru. After a few weeks of driving, the wires shorted out. The shop had to pay about $1500 to fix it. Installer's pay got docked for quite a while.

Didn't a few aftermarket companies get some law passed stating that ( just the point-paraphrasing) its illegal for a dealer to void a warranty if installing aftermarket equipment??

I know Best Buy's policy is for the customer to first come back so the problem can be checked out by their installers and if the problem can't be fixed, they will ask that you go to a dealer to have the problem fixed. Otherwise, they will not pay. When I worked at BBY we had a fair share of crooked customers with friends at dealerships looking for a payout. No one is perfect, but 12K worth of damage from a deck install? Sounds like the car can be considered totalled!

Did a radio once customer had a light on he dash that would not go out. She took it to a dealer instead of bringing it back to me. Dealer charged her @ $50 to say the radio was wired wrong. However, when she did bring it back, it was just the transmission power/economy? light on. Press the button on the dash and it went off.

You are thinking of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. We keep a copy of that in the office at the shop to show customers, and give them copy

depends on years of service. when i worked at BBY, i started at 7.55 and ended up at 10.14 after nearly 2 years.

at CC i started and ended at 10.75.

from what the stealership is charging him for, i would say that they are taking the insurance for a ride. i see no reason to change out every part that needs to be removed to repair stuff...i.e. door panels, handles, switches, cup holders...

i say this is a hose job and this is the reason why i absolutely hate stealerships.

My CC was a full custom competition shop. But thats because I just started doing alot of custom work when I was there.I got them to let me build custom sub boxes and put them on display to sell. as well as building my own car in the shop when I was off the clock. It was fun to watch customers run into the shop after hearing my 165 dB test tones out on the sales floor.

We could have done any custom work you wanted, including apholstery, its just that not many customers think of CC for that stuff, especially after stories like this post and what a bad name it gives to all CCs, even the ones that dont deserve it. Its a big company with over 800 stores, there are bound to be bad installers at some of them. But there are also bound to be good ones.

After reading the thread title, I was severely dissappointed to see a slightly skewed wiring job.

I was really expecting half a burnt down vehicle.
