They have no reason to stop it. I think it'll go through.

the only reason i think they will is because of the monopoly clause. i hope they dont because i would love if they merged i have xm and sirius and it would rock.

I think it will go through. I heard "rumors" way back in Sept. of a possible merger. Great for me...I can combine all my accounts under one roof.

they could stop it but they won't consider it a monopoly since they're competing against regular radio. ultimately, it will come down to whether or not the merger will benefit the consumer.

good news for me because I still own stock in Sirius-which has been dog **** for the most part. I was lucky to sell my XM when I did but this could help it get back to where it was a year or two ago.

it's done already should be final by end of 2007
it should help consumers.prices should drop for service, they don't have to compete against each other just against radio for advertizing dollars.that is only my speculation though.

I mean programming wise....I cannot see this being good for the consumer..Where will the competition be? besides Regular radio?

If you combine all the freedom/variety of music/talk/entertainment/sports programming plus the addition to the video channels (which will be out sometime this year)-yes I said Video: that a lot of stuff. In comparison to the car direct tv connection $2-3K vs $400-$600 (est)in equipment alone. Regular over air radio can't compete with that.

All you are really adding is the entertainment channels....The music channels are basically the same.....Video will be great.......It will make it easier in my store to sell..

It depends on what over air radio is like in your area. Its harder to sell the benefits of sat radio in a major market than in a smaller market with very few choices.

i dont see how its a monoploy if they merged

HD radio is one service also, even though its free

I think the only reason to merge would be to keep both from going under

Wasnt the reason the prices werent sky high the fact that the two kept each other competitive. Now they dont have to worry about customers swapping if they jack prices up 20 a month [Confused]
