Ok well I just blew two Premier 30004SPL's and with a 4400watt RMS Ma Audio amp. I had it bridged into 1ohm putting about 2000watts into each of them and the amp crack one of the cones and ceased the other one. Smoke started to seep out of the ports. It was kinda cool but it sucks. The subs were insanely loud though for about 2 days and then they blew. I am getting a refund from where I bought them so I am now looking for some subwoofers that can handle my amp. I don't really have much money, so I would like to get a pair of 12's for around $500. I am looking for some subs that will just pound my car to pieces and can withstand a constant beating. Was thinking about these subwoofers. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Pair-Cerwin-Vega-Stroker-12-in-Sub-124-Subwoofer-NR_W0QQitemZ110092014136QQihZ001QQcategoryZ18803QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thank you in advance.

hmmm the box has to do alot in power handling, also clean power will put a little less abuse on the subs, no sub is going to take clipped power for to long.

Well my amp seemed to be produceing clean bass. My ears were enjoying it and there was no "clipping". Just put too much power into cheap SPL subs. So does anybody have some suggestions on subs?

Sorry but I just looked a little more into clipping and was sitting here thinking and you are right about the clipping. I haven't yet upgraded my alternator. I just have everything stock which would in turn cause clipping which you suggested. I have a 90' Geo Prizm, stock rinky dinky 60 amp alt. I have been getting quotes on alts and the biggest bolt on I found is 170amps. So I have been looking into putting a one wire gm 250-300amp alt. custom. Weld some brackets with my dad onto my engine or something. I was really thinking about upgrading my power situation before buying more subs, but I still would like some suggestions on subs so I can get a plan going. Please excuse my previous comment I made.

Well the reason I was able to get a refund was because I bought these subs from some company back east and they were supposed to be brand new but they came with tags that said refurbished and one of the subs had a crack near the voice coil on the backside. So they sent me some thing from usps and told me to send them back for a refund. So does anybody have some suggestions on some very reliable subs that aren't going to blow in a couple of days? Fi??????

I've never heard of anyone with a bank of batts getting "rated" power from one of these or the class X counterparts on 14.4v... and I know a few people with ALOT more money in batts than the amps cost RETAIL... I also know guys who've ran them 17v and say they make about rated 14.4 power on 17v.... just because you sell something doesn't mean you have to believe whatever they publish... modded and ran into dead shorts they won't do 4400rms on 14.4v sorry... just don't think it's even possible. are they a good dollar per watt bang per buck amp hell yeah.... not at retail price for sure imo though just my take... my close buddy has one and the class X ma's... they're ok, by far not gonna touch an RF T4000 or memphis 4kw or any other real large 4000watt amp that does at least close to rated power on 14v... autotek mm4000.1d would eat it imo... as a matter of fact I owed my buddy with the MA's an mm4000.1d and he loved it...

Your right about that. I called MA Audio and talked to a tech and he said that it's rated at 14volts. But yeah I am going to upgrade my electrical system greatly. I am now looking into replacing my stock alt with a 170 amp alt and then adding an additional alt rated at 200-250amps and then adding 2 batteries in the trunk.

i know of guys getting alittle over 5krms at low impedences out of the 4kd (modded)on 17v and that amp is rated at 14.4 at 3600rms and 17v 4k.
he is NOT talking about a class x (which is pretty much a class D). he is talking about a HK802SX which is a high current class a/b amp. it dose 4400rms @ 1ohm mono and can be burped @.5ohm bridged no problem. they are current hogs but do make rated power or very close to.
personally i would take a ma audio 4kd to the autotek because they can take high voltage and really low impedences. as for the memphis that amp crushes EVERY amp rated @ 4000rms easily. the memphis amps on 17v strapped pair people are getting 16k at low impedences.
i sell ma but only because i like there products. ma audio has the least mark up of any product i sell. dollar for dollar ma audio is had to beat. i run there high current amps in both my cars for sub amp because i prefer the sound (control)of class a/b over class d any day.

Anybody know anything about one wire GM alts? I have seen some on Ebay that are 200-250amps. Does anybody have any comments about those alts? I am going to install a one wire alt and i would like to know if these alts are any good. Thanks
Kurt

OK thanks. Yes self sensing ones but I'm just talking about the regular GM one wires not the expensive ones.
