i installed a metra axxess ART (amp remote trigger) on a customers car the other day because he wanted to keep his factory cd player. i got a call my bass is cutting out, so i told him to bring it in. it ends up being this unit (art) when u turn the radio up past 1/2 the power light on the amp flickers and it shuts down. i jumped remote to 12v just to test no problems at high vol.
all this unit uses is power, ground,+ speaker tap and u have a remote lead. told him he is gonna have to bring it by later in the week and i will run a acc wire for remote directly to his fuse box. i contacted metra of this problem as i have used these units before with no problems.
only thing i can think of is the unit dosnt handle the voltage that this stock headunit puts out...

well i have been emailing metra 6-7 times back and forth over the last couple days. i was told threw there tech that it is eather a bad unit but should use the new ADCT2 which is better. i keep asking him to send me some i will pay cc or paypal which ever not asking for a return. i will pay out of my pocket and pay extra for faster shipping to make my customer happy. he asked who my sales rep is there i told him i use a distributor and gave him my tax #, #phone and name with addy. next day he askes me the same question 2 times in emails and it is a reply and has all the info needed below. my distributor dosent have any so for speed normally for a part that cost a dealer under $5 and the one i have is defective to begain with i want the new version. sorry for the rant but i emailed him i am DONE with METRA and all of there products because of there customer service sucks!
i once had a problem with a audiopipe sub called the co they offered to next day one out to me at no charge just to make my customer happy. there is so little of this anymore most business dont care. sorry for my rant...Corey

well misunderstanding between me and the tech i quess. he though i had a aftermarket headunit with wire harness installed. the art unit is messing up and i have to change it when it comes back from the dealer but it wasnt keep the headunit on. i think that is his door pins frozzen being it's so cold here. his battery is dead and he had a appointment for saturday anyway because there is alot of factory electronics that are messing up sence he bough it 2 weeks ago.
hey dave hook me up with ur rep so i dont have to deal with a distributor, they have been cool and very helpful with tech support. then i can get a account and have better service when a part is bad...later

The METRA kit for my car are crap too, I think they're GMC-03 or something like that. My car doesn't work right without my factory headunit hooked up and this $50+ device is supposed to solve that problem. It never worked right, half the time my headunit doesn't shut off and the other half it cuts power completely to the headunit, loosing all the settings. The door open chime sounds horrible too. I tried two of them with the same results, I almost wanted to call METRA and tell them that their POS product doesn't work at all. I'm not the only one that tried that kit and got more problems.
Screw METRA, custom wiring FTW
