Im looking for some cheap bulk (Like can covor and entire hatch and roof) sound insulation/dampener. I was checking out McMaster and saw this... item number 5692T13. $9.71 per ft, and is 54" wide, at 1/2" thick. Hows this look?

Im open to suggestions, i just dont want to spend an arm and a leg for stinking foam knowwhatimean?

Dont make me go out and get a video of my rattle machine... all notes, not just car resonant nots make the SOB rattle like none other.

I know, 250 watts making a car sound like a piggy bank in the hands of a 3 yr old? Who woulda known. The damn car is too loud, I can hear the rattling over the music. Plus i need to improve the car for my new sub.

Anyway, idk if its peel and stick... If it isnt, i can always get some spray adhesive.

haha no man, this is peel and seal, its a product

http://www.cofair.com/peel_seal.aspx

you can buy it at lowe's / home depot etc, its in the roofing section, the one i used came in a 6inch wide roll i think 30 or so feet long. just ask someone who knows what it is when you get there...

i used it. it helped my rattles A LOT, pretty easy to work with

Never said quit more like taking a break homie, I'll probably go to 2 or 3 shows this year though.

Spray foam works sweet, after you spray it instead of letting it expand and be all weak and porous take a thin stick or something and after a couple of minutes after spraying it stir it up, it will expand alot less but it will dry WAY harder. Just don't get the crap on anything you don't want trashed and do not get this crap on your hands.

^^ ya, well dont try to **** on someone elses system and not offer any help, its not like he asked a stupid question.

you shouldnt talk your **** up all the time and put others down, when i(and a bunch of other people im sure) could make a car bass race higher than yours does with just the money you spent on your speaker, and thats including buying the car.

im not 15, im almost double that actually, and if i met you id see you constantly excusing your results, and a huge box [Wink]

i have no doubt your equipment has potential, and i actually hope you realise that potential. i just didnt like how you came at the topic poster, if the car has rattles (regardless of the power of the system), then it has rattles, all he wants is help to fix them, either offer it or leave it alone, dont poke a shot at his system, who is bein 15?

Thanks unhealthy, i saw that item you mentioned on macmaster and that was exactly what i was looking for.

And stop hijacking my thread go do it to someone elses!

edit: And even if someone pokes fun at my system, why would I care? I dont compete, I dont brag, I dont boast, I just listen to music. So even if it is sub par, it IS my first system, a learning experience if you will.

Dude you said you have a c note invested in your system sorry for the condescending remark but considering your little Jackhammer remark earlier it was mildly comical to me and besides I did give you some very sound advice anyways.

Unhealthy I have yet to get serious at competing not to make excuses but with only 3 shows last year and absolutly no testing plus a few comical errors not to mention no more than 3k rms on a sub that laughs at that relativly low power. I am taking a little time off like I said and when I get it right then we'll see what this behemoth is capable of.

Spray foam helps. Make sure you are wearin gloves and you take it easy when you are filling in areas. If you put too much one of two things will happen. 1- it will not fully expand, the core of it will stay watery.

2- you will get enough in a large void and it will buckle some metal.

Have fun!
