if you have the knob at zero it's as if it isn't on... so it isn't there is the same. try turning it up when metering and see best way to find out is to do it. it'd probably range in different install I'd imagine. it ups rca voltage so I'm sure it'll let your amps do more power. BUT is it doing so on peak of your system and is it gaining over full spl are questions I wouldn't be able to answer. so try it and find out is my best answer...

so how does these things workk? i mean i dont understand how these give u LOWWWW bass? so if u were tuned high ud get good low bass too? is it dependant on the box size etc?

I believe it just takes the bass down an octave. It will not makle a high tuned box play low. Old rock/rap doesn't have as much low bass and it turns the higher notes into lower ones.

Through advance circuits, it sees harmonics in the song and adds frequencys 1/2 octave lower and the newer models are adjuststable. i actually got a circuit diagram (had a professor make on for me) and explination how it worked. I would explain it like him but it would be 5 pages and words that make you go "what". It's only really good with sealed boxes or etremely high excusion subs in ported because it make a large amount of subsonic frequencys. It can also get VERY sloppy with certain songs. I know it would make my z series 15's stink after 5 mins. in 4 cu. ported tuned to 29hz. Never heard better pantera though.

you are sort of correct here. a note which is re-synthesized by the epicenter is ONE octave lower, not a 1/2 octave lower..... which is = to HALF of the fundamental frequency.
for example, the epicenter takes a 60 hZ note and "makes" a 30 hZ note to reinforce it.
30hZ is one FULL musical octave below 60hZ
sorry to nitpick...

thanks for the clarification. i thought the newer models had a freq adjustment on them, starting at 1/2 to 1 octave, could have been another product i was thinking of.

my epic-160 is the most essential piece of my system. i live by it. it even makes some newer rap sound a LOT better. too many songs with weak bass lines, but this cures it. plus, the in-dash SPL mic is fun to play with, too.

this is true. but, it's good to find resonant frequencies and or peak SPL frequencies for comps/tuning purposes. having my own TL would definetly be nice, though... haha.

if your asking about the epic-160 i got mine new in box off of ebay for 165 shipped. i love mine too.the voltage gauge is alot better then the stock gauge and easier to read where my voltage is when really cranking it up
