If a 2 ohm sub and a 4 ohm sub are wired in parrallel, what is the outcome ohm load at?

Buddy has an amp that's 2 ohm stereo and 4 ohm mono stable. Two 4 ohm dvc 12's, but one coil is burned out on one of the subs. The amp only pushes 50x2 at 4 ohm stereo, 83x2 at 2 ohm stereo, and 150x1 at 4 ohms bridged.

Well, 50x2 isn't enough, and 2 ohm stereo is out of the question with the bad coil. So what i was thinking was to wire the "good" sub to 2 ohms, and wire the coil from the other sub in parrallel. At first glance i thought it would be around 3 ohms. Which would work fine, as i'm sure the amp would be ok at 3 ohm mono if the controls at set and the volume is kept reasonable, but i know it's not stable at 2 ohm mono.

Tell me if i'm wrong, so i don't end up with some crazy high/low ohm's.

Thanks

4ohm + 2ohm in parallel would be 1.33ohm.

the sub showing a 2 ohm load will see more power than the one showing the 4 and most likely sound like ass in the process.

Thanks. How about series, what would it come to then? Just interested in the ohm's now, won't be hooking these subs to it.

Have been looking for a good ohm calc for a little while now, can't believe i didn't check at the12volt. It's been a couple years since i've needed one.

As far as why, just curious.
