Is it possible to add XM to an 05 Grand Prix GTP and have it function off the stock HU like in alot of other GM cars?

I'm guessing that all it woudl need is the XM antenna and interface for the stock HU.

Also does anyone if the CD/Aux button on the HU relates to a proprietary changer input AND an aux input or is it one or the other. If possible an iPod would be hooked there.

Okay, well, I'm looking for a friend also. So I'm not sure if GM did different models of the stock HU's or not, and if he has a HU able to accept the XM adapter. He can't find a model number... lol

I will have to check this out. But from what I understand that all gm cars we have buick gmc. they all have xm modules that work with the radio. 06 models I think are way different. But does the HU on your friends Grand prix have XM lable on it.

****, I never even thought of looknig for an XM label or anything on it! I'll ask him. As for the model and options, he's not sure. He bought the car second hand, but it doesn't have nav or anything that special in it. I'm guessing its the mid equiped one, probally cloth seats, power windows and stuff, middle of the road equipment. I'll ask about the XM label though. Is there anywhere that there would be a model number on the HU besides the back? Mabey in the owners manual?

What is the full VIN of the car. I have asked about the XM radio upgrade looks like you cant get it. You buddy wants to be able to control the XM from the Factory HU is that right. And about the part Number Yes it is on the back as well as in the radio.
