well i realy have to lift the seat.... and think abou tit... what good is realy fliping the seat down and back in these OBS trucks.LOL NONE if ya ask me! i dont see why it was designed to fold down and back for! maybe if the floor was level it would be good to haul groceries. but not like that! [Frown]
i figured out before i could lift the seat 4inches which shouldnt be a problem for anyone under 6ft. but if 6ft or taller..... might have to sloutch. or lean.... LMFAO
but again today no work done. to busy working on my crx nd finding more and more problems [Frown] i just need it runing and driving. and now its running BUT no brakes. hole in the brake line so i gotta replace it [Frown]

sorry no update in awhile... just been to lazy or worken on something else around the house.
but today i THINK i got my lift seat brackets done!

key word I HOPE!!!!!! i dont see why it shouldnt fit tomorow when i bolt it in.....
but if i measured right it SHOULD just be 4inches taller which shouldnt effect anyone under 6ft in the rear.
well enough talk heres the pics of what i got so far.

BUT so far i got a nice water facet.LMFAO

BUT hopefully tomorow ill just have to bolt it down tomorow and tighten everything up.

edit... never mind i got my computer reset alot quicker to resize.LOL

only thing i have to do to the lift brackets is cut the overhang off and drill another hole in them just so it will definatly be pullen down on the metal to realy is firm!
that was my only issue was safety if i do ever get in a accident i wouldnt have to worry about the bench seat flying forwards into my back.LOL
used some preaty thick square tubing and preaty thick flat steel which i bent around and welded it all together.
ill also be using all hardened bolts and lock washers JUST to be safe...
after i get this seat lifted ill know exactly how big i can build my box and will continue after that.

well here it is [Wink] seats lifted and looks preaty good. doesnt look like ill have any problems finishing the box. BUT instead of the 6inch aero port i was gonna use ive decided to switch to dual 4inch aero ports.... mainly cause the port wont fit under the seat after i put the MDF top on. [Frown]
just ordered some aero ports and HOPEFULLY they will get here QUICK. only one state away and i did priority mail so i should get them in 2 days depending on when they actualy ship [Wink]

also yes i know.. sorry my bench seat fabric unsnaped which is why its hangen down. took forever to get snaped back together and forgot to take new pics.

i was gonna start cuting MDF BUT after finding out the port wouldnt fit..... i was kinda s****y.... and came in and ordered the 4inch aero ports.
thought about just bending down the port but after thinken about it ill just use the dual 4inch ports so i can move the ports further back in the box so it is clearly outta the way of the sub. with the 6inch aero port it would be REALY TIGHT and realy close to the subs motor.

ok well finaly got off my lazy butt and did somemore work.
cut some forms then cut them into 3/4mdf. BUT i must say I WISH I DID THIS FIRST and then glassed. WOOPS
foolish first glass attempt....
LEARNING PROCESS i guess......
ive got preaty much all the MDF done besides the top piece cause i ran out of big enough pieces
tomorow ill try and fill the gaps and lay down alot more glass...
im not sure how good the glass will stick to the MDF... so my other idea is after laying down a layer or two of glass then drilling thru it from the MDF side and run some screws thru them and then glass over them again.
BUT i dont know if i need to do that or not..... guess i might find out.... i might just put it on thick and just use some self taping screws....

any advice????

well heres some pics...

i did have to cut the release handle down... and also have to make a slot so i can still access the release handle from the side.... not that i will realy need to be able to tilt the seat back BUT i will be able to tilt the back town... so at least ill be able to hide some tools behind the bench seat, and maybe even put some small groceries.
just gotta go buy more MDF and some dowel rods so i can realy make this box solid! and then to build up the sub mount since i have to fire the sub forwards and also with a upward tilt. im just short on mounting space to flaten it out......

Lookin good bro, your almost done.

resin and glass stick to mdf very well.

get a roll of ducttape and tape the bottom edge all the way around on the outside, put on many layers on so it's thick and wont leak resin.

suspend the box off the ground and start glassing.
I would saturate the glass first than lay it in the box and brush/roll out the bubbles as I layer it.

if you need to you can staple the glass onto the mdf so it bends in a 90 degree corner onto the piece you allready glassed.

I'm no pro, but thats how I did it in my box. and it worked well.

goodluck.

thanks for the advice.
tho ill have to glass it tomorow. being outside for so long yesterday cuting templets and then cuting the mdf gave me a preaty bad sunburn on the back of my neck [Frown] and today its raining... so 1+1+me being lazy= one more day.
tho i have to glass the front of the box in the middle for the sub mount.
that will be the rear work right thier seeing how i want it looking realy good and painting it!
and i havent glued the MDF yet or also counter sinking the screws. BUT it will be done! right now its mainly test fiting!
i stuck some hot glue spots on the glass to mdf to hold its shape till i put a few pieces of glass on it, then i will pull off the glue or as much as posible [Wink] and finish it off.
hardest part might be making the sub mount and having it high enough so the total thickness doesnt hit the floor and hold it up. [Frown]

i just realy hope this turns out nice!!!!! im just dreading all the sanding.LMFAO
another part i will probably dread doing is sanding the glass right now before relayering it... since i didnt get it smooth and dont want any bubble areas..
next time ill definatly build the frame first and then glass all at one time!
tho it is a valuable learning experience!

thanks man. i was gonna finish glassing the floor this weekend BUT indy weather SUCKS cold/rainy and just miserable!
plus im trying to convince my parents into buying me a 96-2000 2door civic [Wink] tho ive wanted a civic for along time now, but never had the money myself. and since my grandpa died my parents came up with quite a bit of cash! and paid off my brothers new cavilier and my truck but my trucks total was ALOT less than my brothers. and since my parents have always been cool with keeping me and my brother EVEN wise. they said they owe me about 8K bucks worth of vehicle.LMFAO and you know im not stupid enough to say no! it was either fix my 84crx thats HORIBLY rusted away and isnt worth more than 1k bucks in good condition. [Frown]
so last 2 days ive been looken everywhere.LOL got a few lined up. and if all goes good ill have one soon enough. tho will never be as nice as yours! like always.... one mod at a time with my poor @ss [Frown] tho i definatly want to do your dash screen mod [Wink] jsut have to steal my screen outta the truck or buy another. then id just move the radio right ontop of the cup holder location if it would fit that is....
