Ok i own a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT fully loaded ..nice ride if i say so myself. Anyway as of now i have 2 RE MT 18's in a 14cube incloser in the back, lets just say its gets a lil loud 151.9 on music. As you 151.9 is loud and it does around a 150 at 30hz ya it moves some freakin air and moves parts on my car. This is the point in this post my Explorer is ripping apart from this massive system so im thinkin of downgrading a lil so **** doens't keep fallin apart and breaking. So im thinkin of doin 2 2006 RE XXX 15's in around 8cubes ya i know this will still get loud but im cutting the box size down a lot so thats a good thing and im thinkin of getting into SQ a lil bit more like SQL i guess what are you guys thoughts on this delima

R.I.P
Roof Concol
Sunroof tracs
Rear upper trim panels
Rear dome light <------ Lil list of what the MT's have broke
Rear Hatch latch
Front Center concol
Radio supports
Door sills

i think you need to take every body panel apart, and coat it with sound deadener. add some supports along the roof, doors... anywhere that's moving out of place too much. mount the latch using some loctite on the bolts... use loctite on all the bolts for interior panels that are falling. extra roof support around the sunroof will fix that. as for the radio support, take the dash apart, and make the mount more solid.

in other words, don't downgrade. beef everything else up. you have an suv, so the roof is going to flex like hell. it's nothing that some extra metal can't fix. panels moving on you, sound deadener on the back of them, and loctite on the bolts will do you wonders. under the dash, aluminum strap will do wonders for your hu. just make a couple straps and bolt them down well. loctite won't hurt there either.

you could downgrade, but i doubt you'd be happy in the end. spl is an addiction. and to score well in sq comps, you'll spend a ****load more getting that ready than you will to beef up your explorer to handle 150+ daily.

Just get out the cement and stop being a wuss [Wink]

Its rare to find a bass head who is happy with less...weigh your decisions carefully.

If you want to come over to the SQ side we would be happy to have you.

Tough to do without going nuts on the vehicle. I probably have more sound deadning than any streetbeater out there and my van still needs more I'll have close to 15k in combined deadning technologies before it's over, I'm already north of 11k so good luck with a late model vehicle btw how does it affect the guages etc. ?

I am having the same issues with my 1998 Explorer.

Not quite 150s on music, but :-p.

Sunroof Control Console broke

Rear Glass Hinges screws stripped out, I've replaced the entire assemply and turned it into a nut/bolt setup.

Rear quarter panel window seal popped.

Soon to enter the realm of a wall...so...we'll see what havoc is wreaked.
