well, it's that time of year again. last year with the old setup, I realized I did a few things wrong with it, so I corrected a few mistakes and hopefully did everything right. So, I'm starting up "Project 150" to hopefully break 150 with 1 DD9915c and 4000rms in a 4dr civic. (gotta reclaim my spot as loudest verified civic on sounddomain... oh.. and hopefully top Meade )
me and a friend ripping out the interrior
interrior gone.. started spraying ruberized undercoating/sound deadener inside.. def cut down on road noise while I was driving
hmm.. only 8 pics per post? that's new.. I think...
box is 6 cubes. 131sq in of port, tuned to 50hz. I have another port that will slide into the box to tune it lower for daily driving. still have to work on the baffle tomororw, then see if the damn thing fits in my car.

AEROPORTS!! A 10 gallon buck with flared ends does pretty niceley and put some 45's in the corners too. Is this going to be sealed off from the trunk area?? I love the workmanship of the box, I wish I could get my cuts that straight. Good luck.

I have a bunch of 4" pvc pipe in the garage I'm going to cut up and put in all of the corners, and also have it at the end of the port to make it flare out a bit.
I was working on the baffle today... I barely have enough room for the sub to mount in. prolly like 1/2" of clearance between the bottom of the magnet and the box. I'm really anxious to hear what this box can do
I'll leave the trunk design as a supprise

Yeah, I love the way he does the corners. I recommended it because I've always gained when I did it
So you're from Bedford??? I'm from Paoli, I'm sure you know where that's at. It's kind of cool knowing a competitor is like 25 minutes away instead of like 2 hours.

lol.. I already have a gallon of resin in the garage ready to go in.
got the baffle finished up. just have to predrill and counter sink for the screws on the top and bottom, then make a little piece for the corner of the baffle and the port. then make a dato inside of the port for my daily plug.
the sub has barely enough room between the bottom of the magnet and the bottom of the box. I'm thinking I made the angle a little bit too acute in reguards to the bottom of the box.
all in all.. not bad for a 22y/o huh? haha

hey i just noticed your build post, good luck man im rootin for you to beat me. Ive never done a 150 on the new mic with that car only a 147.7 in the kick and 146.4 at the dash.....almost to mid fiddy's consistantly on the old mics though. (car tuned to 29hz though) I was competing with that car and feelin pretty good at almost 154 but imagine having to go thru losing 7-8db that took 2 years to build up Damn them new mics, oh well im glad the transition days are over. For the most part, she is retired unless i go nuts one day and wall it off but for right now, i wish you good luck! Tear it up, and BTW lookin real good on the box so far

Well, for the most part, it's done. The port that's in it now is tuned to 40hz for daily driving. tomorrow I'll head out in the 30 degree weather and see how it fits (if at all) in the vehicle. hopefully it'll just slide right in where I can assemble it, let it dry, and work on the trunk.
I was a little upset after cutting out the port plug that I realized that my jigsaw blade was bent a tiny bit. oh well, it kinda worked out for the better
I think it actually does look like the plans I drew up on friday night:
Hmm.. should I post my install as I do it for the trunk, or just supprise everyone at the end?

yep, TL at MECA finals in 04. 98 Coupe was running 3-Memphis Mc300s,rated 480 watts at 4 ohm, and 3Kicker l-7 12s, 150.9. Earlier and now it has 3-Memphis M3 subs, playes a little louder with the M3s, we thought the l7s would gain us a little but actually went down a tenth or two. stock battery stock alternator. The hatch is a 96 , small hatch, not much room, would do a 150.9-151 with a single Mc300 and a single Mojo 15, but at finals we ran a BS amp rated at 800 watts that did around 2200 actual power, and it did a 151.7. It had adjustable alt and 2 12v batteries.

You know you said something there got me thinking. I am glad nothing I have now has been on the old mics. So I dont have to have that feeling of DAMN..I am only doing a 152 now. But then again kinda know on the old meters what a score would be and I am sure I will be like that feels like a <insert score here> and then it does like a 45..lol.
Kinda funny...hoping to hit that 150 mark again.

Well, I worked on the box the past few days, got it in the car, and ready to go. Please don't laugh at my wiring. it's just temporary right now. I had to call it quits tonight because spring break is over tomorrow, so I'll finish it up with carpeting and the amp cover when I get home for easter.
amps wired up
box in with daily port
nice closeup of the DD's (sig material right there)
engine bay (nothing too impressive)
closeup of the 0ga going through the firewall
overall, it sounds pretty good. I'm only running 1000rms on the sub, it barely moves. so far, it's pretty nice and loud. can't wait to put full power on it and burp it.
