I have tried different designs of trunk boxes for spl. I am running out of ideas to correct a new designs. I run with 2 12s treo tsx [Big Grin] 12.22 and 2 mats d300 and one extra battery. Does the port work better on driver side or the passager or in the middle? I am running the port in the middle right now. I have not tried the port on the drivers side yet. any suggestion? The subs are on the top facing up. the port is on the front facing the back of the trunk.

first thing I would do is face everything to the front of the vehicle if the back seat will fold down.

try a port in the middle.

What kind of car is it? Are you looking to just make it louder for daily driving or are you looking to compete in db drag?

With that extra battery and your equipment the way you have it setup, you would be in Street C (where you are allowed 4 "Big" amps or 8 "Strappable" amps and 4 12's)

NSPL..... from what I believe I read, you are not allowed to have your seat fold down in there anyways correct?

Can you port through the rear deck at all?

Kate, in my Honda, when I went from firing the port from the middle to the driver's side, my numbers went up, but it may depend on the vehicle. Put your subz and port all on the same face plate.

Since your seat will not fold down, the only way your gonna get it to work firing forward is to slide your enclosure all the way to the back of the trunk, for increased airflow, and cut out your rear deck. But if you planning on doing SPL, cutting your rear deck is ILLEGAL in dB Drag Street. It is allowed in NSPL Pro Trunk, however.

Shoot me a PM, and let me know what you're trying to do, and I'll give you some helpful trunk hints. [Cool]

Then your best bet just might be to have everything on the same surface and fire into the back of the trunk.

About 4-6 inches away from the trunk face it.

did a car with subs up, port back in the middle rear deck cut out...this was the loudest so far compared to :

subs up port up... subs forward port forward....subs back port back....sub back port up...

but in another car
where space in the trunk wasnt a consideration...

box all the way in the back by the bumper...subs forward port on the side...

the backrest of the rear seat can be tilted to let the bass through better [Wink]

for sql subs by the bumper but one on each side gave excellent blending with mid/hi's

my guess is the only way to break 150 without cutting out rear deck is to.

1

take out rear speakers, use some type of pvc or fiberglass tube and make a bandpass enclosure that ports threw the 2 stock holes in the rear deck. but dont connect them to the rear deck because this might be illegal in your class. lets say make these ports about the same size as the stock holes but make them sit 1/8-1/16 of an inch below the rear deck.

2.

get 2 15s that you can put 5000 watts to each and fire the box back at the trunk lid with as much port area and as big as a box you can, but leave at least 4 inches from the top of the box to the top of the trunk to allow air flow back to the front of the vehical.
