Can a set of Orion P6.2's fit in the front doors without cutting? I need to know for a project I'm going to be working on soon. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. These speakers are pretty large and I know I'm going to need to build an MDF plate for them and deaden the doors. If I have to cut we're going to have to look at another option for speakers. He's been calling RE constantly trying to get a set of comps but apparently they're out and won't have any for a while.

I think there is somthing like 3.5" or so from the metal to the window when its down plus their is a good bit of room between the door skin and the door panel.

My guess is, you might have to trim a little metal to get the magnets and baskets to fit. You have approx. 1" between the metal and the doorpanel BUT you run a chance of the surround touching the doorpanel.
I used a dei studio 6 1/2 in my doors which have a tiny neo magnet, but even then I still had to make some adjustments because of the basket and the connection terminals.
But most definately, the stock sized speakers (4x6) don't cut it.
If you need any info or assistance, feel free to pm me. You might want to get ahold of Rhino_ss. He is one of the other members that has an SS.

Thanks guys. The P6.2's are 3.5" deep (if I remember right) but they're magnet is pretty large. I was most worried about how far the panel is from the door because I will have to raise them up because I KNOW these baskets won't fit in the door. Is it a 4x6 on one of those rectangular mounting plates like what was in my cavi? The hole was like 5"x8" and I put 7" midbasses in there without too much trouble at all and I didn't have much clearence front or back to start with.

I pretty sure that the mag off my 8w1's I tried would be bigger and those would fit if it weren't for depth. I'm just building door panles for mine so I didn't pay to much attention after that point.

As a reference these are bigger than the Kicker RS6C's. These are some of the largest 6.5's I've used.

yeah, the orions have a pretty beefy magnet. Not only in depth, but also diameter. And yes, it's an angled 4x6 plastic mounting bracket down there.

taking off the rubber gasket on the magnet gives you a lil more play, about a 1/2 inch on all sides, but you still have the depth issue.

The Link will show a template that is used for speakers bigger than stock size. although it is suggested to use a half inch ply wood, you could still use 3/4" mdf instead.
Hope this helps. I know alot of Impala owners dont wanna "Chop" up there cars because they might wanna turn around and sell it some time down the line.

Thanks! That template will save me some mocking up time. In my Cavi when I put the 3 way set of Crystal's in I used 5/8 MDF AND 1/2 MDF to make the template because the basket and magnet was too big for the 4x6 that was there...that was a 7" too.

Just to let you know how much room you have, I used to work at ghetto sounds in da hood back in the day and we used to put 6 x 9's in the factory location. I swear it was like 4 vehicles a week.

Did he use a 1/2" or 3/4" template?

Jim, you ever make kicks for 6x9s for those customers who wanted even more up front?
