Those were the days.

Blowthroughs, Sung Tops, walls of woofers, Ohhh MY!

Sounds Cool to me! Didnt RF have an aniversery series amp out not too long ago?

Rattlebrain:

Yea they did.

But it was mainly cosmetic. The internals were nothing like the old amps. Mainly cause you can't get some of those old parts anymore. (Bi-polar switchers for the power supply, Hell! son, they aint made those in years!)

Not implying(sp)the retro amps are of lesser quality!!!! (snafu!)

I just miss the sound of a good Bi-polar power supplied amp.

Bout the only thing old-school I still have left is a 3523 Alpine amplifier. In 1998 i bought a ton of old alpine stuff real cheap, alpine cassette deck, 2 channel amp, 4 channel amp, and rocked it out in my cj7.

I wish I still had pics, but my first real system was in 1991, consisting of 2 Autotek 7050XX's run at 1 ohm to 4 Kicker Comp 12's and a buttload of Kicker seperates. Unhooking the mids/highs amp, I won The Big Bass Off 1992, sponsored by Autosounds Of Virginia in the 0-50 watt class. I also ran another setup for IASCA 0-50 watt class with 1 7050XX running all the seperates and 2 of the Comp 12's that was pretty successful, but I didn't travel very far back then.

Wow! These photos bring back many fond memories. One thing is for certain - installation was more about utility in the early days . . . nearly forgot that Concord also made amplifiers.

Not super old school, but most kids today have probably never seen one.
