The 12w7s looked really cool when I bought them. They were plenty loud, but after awhile it wasn't enough for me. I would crank the volume and it just wasn't what I expected. Don't get me wrong, it was plenty loud, but for the price I could have gotten away with something alot better. I didn't notice much of a difference between my 12w7 setup and a friend's 12w6v2 setup (which was similar to mine).
The DD's by far are much louder, and have a heavier impact when it comes to the bass. I dont know why some people bash them because they don't have the "SQ" the w7's are supposed to have. I'm a college kid basshead, not a SQ competitor. I guess thats where the difference might be?
Either way, the DD's are just as fast, hit harder and can handle the volume with ease. The bass is just as clean and tight as they were with the JL setup, just with 1 less subwoofer and a smaller enclosure. They handle everything I want it to, from Lil Jon's Crunk Juice to Earth, Wind and Fire's greatest hits.

also, what shop did the work? very very nice IMO.
Anytime. If you are in town, you can email me at NisAznMonk@aol.com. I also post on www.houston-imports.com/forums alot.
Aaron Davis and Ryan Johnson were the guys who made this all possible. They are the ex-Livewire installers that built the cars on this page.
If you want the location, just email me. I don't want to piss anyone off by posting the information on the board.

I am glad you like the DD's. Were the DD's louder than the JL's considering that you now have only two woofers instead of three? They should be louder.

1911, if u wish to post comments like that, please go elsewhere, no one in here would even think of commiting such a crime, much less post about it, if you on the other hand do believe in commiting such acts, I suggest you leave the forum.
Thank you.

Very nice job there dude!! Clean, not cluttered, looks nice too. As mentioned above - stealth too (I've always been a fan of stealth installations).
I've heard nothing but good things about the DD 6.5s and their big brother subs. How do you like the DD 6.5 + Vifa Tweeter combination? I used to combine Vifa & Morel or Vifa & Macrom, but I've not had the chance to work with DD gear yet.

Great install! Looks very clean. Have you thought about using the other din slot in the dash for maybe an AudioControl piece or something else? Maybe an Epic-160 or EQ... Just some thoughts...

I like my setup alot! They have plenty of midbass for me, and they work really well on almost everything I play (everything classical to rap). They can also handle the times i "accidently" turn the volume knob up Posts: 101 | From: Houston, TX | Registered: Feb 2003
