your average peak frequency during a psychlone run, used to add points to your score. example:

150db 60hz fomax = 170 pts
130db 30hz fomax = 170 pts

Team 2x4 + Soundigital = loud

FoMax is the frequency where your system achieved it's highest SPL. Fo stands for "Center Frequency" and Max stands for Max [Smile]

Example: Your peak SPL score occurs at 62 Hz. FoMax = 62.

The upcoming version of Term-LAB logs FoMax along with SPL scores. The Leaderboard and event results will show this information.

For Psychlone, there will be a number of new fields...

SPL = Sound Pressure Level
FoMax = See Above
SPL Composite = SPL + Bonus (based on FoMax)
RTA Score
Install Score
Total Score = SPL Composite + RTA + Install

This is coming to life as we speak. You can see a Psychlone example at...

as far as i know it should be offered at every show which decides to have it from now on. I know db don is hosting a psyclone show in Saskatoon this upcoming Saturday. Pretty interesting format, not much of a spectators format but really close competition between many different types of systems. At finals, the difference between a full out spl system and a hardcore sq set up was something like only 19 points.

Oh its very much a spectators format once the SPL gets measuring.

Don, I personally think the SPL portion is exciting once you have a full out spl beast in the lanes, but this format has been created to have a level playing field between many different purpose built audio systems, and overall i see it as more of a competitors sport then a spectators sport.

So a real demo vehicle that has decent sq would be the best suited for psyclone right?

Psychlone is designed in an effort to get back to what got me interested in auto sound to begin with. You could call it "old school SPL" but I don't think the appeal ever died. A perfect example is Tommy McKinnie. When he demo's his vehicle people flock to it like crazy.

A system that can play music loud and low is impressive. Both of my cars (Eruption and The Terminator) were built specifically to park and play.

To be competitive in Psychlone, you don't necessarily need an SQ car. The installation judging is very fundamental in nature. There is no subjectivity (with respect to installation "quality" or "sound" quality.) The RTA portion of the competition requires your system to play a full-range of frequencies. And, the SPL portion rewards contestants who design loud systems that play low. You know the kind of bass I am talking about. Gut wrenching, body slammin, bass.

I would submit that most auto sound enthusiasts want systems that sound like this. I'm not talking about die-hard contestants who build competition-specific cars... rather, normal enthusiast who like a powerful auto sound system. We are hoping to pull these potential competitors into the judging lanes.

We are going to push Psychlone hard this season. I am sure you will see it at many of the events you attend. And, yes, it will be offered at the World Finals.

Get ready for a new breed of bass. From what I hear theres a few impressive park and play systems getting built for psyclone.

When I ran it at finals I thought it was a huge success.
