By visiting this forum, you have shown that you are interested in auto sound and auto sound competition. For some of you, this may be your first time here. I want to personally welcome you and thank you for your visit. For others, this may be your second "home". I also want to thank you for your continued patronage.
I think we can all agree that the economy and the auto sound industry have been hit pretty hard over the past few years. Everyone has felt this pain in one way or another. Sometimes, difficult times can make us bitter or cynical. Unfortunately, the internet allows us to do things and say things we normally wouldn't do or say in person. And, if you are an auto sound contestant, your passion for competition combined with limited resources can lead to frustration. It is times like this when we all need to excercise restraint before posting something that we may regret or saying something that is detrimental to our sport.
Our website receives tens of thousands of visits per day. For some auto sound enthusiasts, what they see here may be their very first impression of auto sound competition. I want to make sure this impression is a good one. We can achieve this by focusing on making the Audio Forum an instructive and friendly place to visit.
In addition to visitors, potential sponsors and EXISTING sponsors frequent our sites. We are extremely fortunate to have sponsors in this current economic climate. I am sure you will agree that their support is what makes our passion possible. We owe it to these companies to represent our sport in the most professional and gracious manner possible.
So please, consider what you say before you hit the "Enter" button on your next post. Are you comments beneficial or derogatory? If you were a first time visitor, would this be a place you would want to frequent? Or, if you were a manufacturer or a sponsor, would you want your name and brand image associated with what we do?
I would encourage each of you to think on this matter. Together, we can make things happen.

As I did at finals I will donate my time to the sport and it's competitors as an advocate.
I spoke to Doug and several other judges in length about my ideas for change and for this position. I believe a single or pair of individuals should be available to competitors to talk to and email regarding issues they may have with Dbdrag, its rules, or its representitives.
This individual will (over set periods of time) listen to, respond to, and compile lists of issues that have been brought to their attention. These isues will be "filtered" as to priority, legitimacy, and reasonability. As to be sure we're not addressing topics that are tailored to specific individuls but are for the greater good of the sport.
The final issues or comments will then be presented to Wayne and or the judging staff for their coments and ideas. This person or persons will have a better repor with the top staff and therefore have a better chance of getting things done. The ideas they present will contain the issues at hand as well as well thought out plans for new revisions or changes to address these ideas.

This train of thought is the basis for why things do not get changed.
Wayne nor the judging staff have the time and resources to hear hundreds of complaints or comments from comptitors every month or quarter.
Wayne needs a "go between" to hear these things and then make reasonable presentations to him tht he may then make a judgement on.
MOst ideas presented to him come as "This isnt fair" or "this needs to be changed" Those statements are seldom followed up with ideas for the proposed change or how to implement it.
It is expected that Wayne can listen to everyone and then decideon his own how to fix the problem and then he is expected to implement it. This is not feasable. For one no individual can listen to the same rehtoric time and again without becoming frustrated and discouraged.
A competitor advocate is needed to hear the bulk of the issues and then present the most pressing ones along with a competitors point of view for the changes to Wayne. This is the way to get stuff done!!!!
This was the basis for our government (although now flawed). Representitivs are appointed or elected to speak as opposed to every citizen just trying to call the white house and explain why Jim Bo's town needs a leash law. Could you imagine if everyone just called Washington everytime ther was an issue with local goverment?
I hope IM coming across clearly.
I am definately not atacking anyone just trying to express this idea for REAL DIFFERENCES.

While I hear what you're saying and you have some valid points Neil. I would have to disagree with the part about a competitor representative.
No offense but who is to say you, him, her or I are up to the task. Why is one person better suited that others? I believe we're all going to be seeing A LOT more of Wayne around here and thats the important thing. There are plenty of judges, officiating staff that can pass on the necessary insight and information. ALSO I believe there are plenty of ideas around and being expressed that can easily be viewed, reviewed and worked upon by the appropriate people in the organization.
You may not agree with me but I dont think having "selected" people to represent "the majority" is the best idea... No need to "filter" ideas and opinions according to what "someone" deems to be important and valid.
I'm sure that in the coming days we will see some things take place that will be a great step forward for the organization as a whole.

And I know I am up to the task. I am comitted to this oganization and making it better and will settle for nothing less.
And yea man 100-150 people all bringing the exact same issue to the table do need to be filtered. This is the primary reason Wayne dosent have time to adress any issues (redundancy is a time kiler).

wayne just needs to make the classes and rules and then people need to build around the classes and rules, this thing people trying to get the rules built around their setups is silly,

this is a good thread! a sensible discussion rather than a boo hoo fest lol...Its hard for one man to make apropriate changes when inapropriate requests are made by the truck load.
Perhaps a voting section on this forum would be handy?
What i mean by that is if judges, supporting sponsors and of course Wanye himself are the only ones to "start" a pole thread regarding rules, and forum users could vote by multiple choice rather than a typed response this would be a good way to hear the truth without the garbage.
I figure all poles created would be based on thoughts and opinions of competitor's and of manufacturers and retailers.
What are your thoughts on this? Does this seem at all like a good idea?

So a mere question. How will this competitor advocate work? A lot of people are passionate about this sport and often come across rude and harsh but with honest good intentions at first.
Maybe something like a twitter section where the entries can be short. Short and simple sentences. I know a lot of people (including myself) can write novels on the forum. This alone can take hours upon hours to keep track on if someone falls behind. Maybe we should go old school and have people submit in writing and mail in there complaint on a form. It is easy for someone to hit the enter key but another to type out a letter or form and mail it in. I'm just rambling on but like the idea over all for change.

Awesome post and very helpful. Feel free to ramble. Different ideas are what will help get this fine tuned.
My idea for the competitor advocate or rep would allow memebers to freely PM or email the individual directly with their questions and concererns. A seasoned competitor filling the role will be more understanding of whatever situation is at hand.
This gives a more personal line of comunication between the competitor with the problem and a pending solution. As a post may be misinterpreted an email which raises such a misunderstanding can be adressed by swapping phone numbers and having short conversation to clear it up and get on the same page.
Also a competitor advocate can take problems or questions regarding judges and present them to the judge oe Wayne without implicating the competitor witt the question. Thus keeping tension down between individual competitors and judges or dbdrag as a whole.

there needs to be a vote and there needs to be at least one person from each division selected, preferably two, one from North America and one from Europe

For a commitee maybe the prevailing 5 World Champs per class should be consulted on the rule change per class per U.S. and Europe. Voting will be a long process and will only create more arguements. Let the stats and dedication speak. The former World Champs should be more than a respectable base for a comitee.

make some rules, adjust them a little if needed, and people will decide if it worth competing or go to another org that suits what they want in an spl competition, this thing of having different spl comps at dbdrag show or dbrag at a meca is not a good thing, keep them all seperate,
