You definitely have to start somewhere and it usually isnt by winning your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even any show in your first year. I went to my first show after hearing about it on the radio and was quite scared when I got there. I had no idea what I was doing and I got beat at the first couple shows because its a learning process as well as an investment that you have to be willing to make. Look where I ended up. I did ok for myself and honestly never really spent the money I needed to get even better. You just have to want to do it. Not everyone is willing to commit that far and that will never change.

I know what your saying. My first few Db drags I got beat plenty of times and to this day I still go to comps and get killed every time and always bust out in bass race. So from another point view one large factor is people just don't have the cash like they did 5-9 years ago including me and the vets I'm sure understand this. But if anything we got the chance in the past 9 years but really more in the past 5 that Db drag and others like it, changed the car audio world forever in the best ways! Big power for less! Subs that you can crank 15k watts on and boxes and certin combos testing the limits of science to produce Spl at levels we never thaught was possable 9 years ago!
My first Db drag show I ever seen was distroyer and Todd jones dr thunder. Never in my life did I think I'd see 64 10s in a caravan with a chrome skull on the windsheild lol I was hooked! That # was 155.6 Db in 1996 I think it was. Who would think then a person from the future could go back in time 13 years and smoke him with a small hatchback Honda and 2 10s on 1 amp lol. Would be funny to see don't u think?

I think money is the big factor here. When the cash prizes started to go away. So did the majority of the competitors. I think if you bring the cash back the competitors will return.

I miss the old days Since 2000 I attended all world finals also! And I saw the changes.
A lot of people said the they would like cash for wins. But from where is the money coming?
I just try something at my shows for next year. Kind of FORCING the people to do bass Race.
I will charge an extra 5 Euro (or for you 5 Dollars?) for every entry fee. No matter if they do regular Bass Race or just dB Drag. (or dB Cup)
Everybody who does a regular start, can do an additional Bass Race run for the money! Will do it in the 129,9 class so that really everybody can do this. (or almost).
Depending on the amount I will split that for 1st (65%) and 2nd (35%) place. (or first 3 or 4?) So I elminiate the loudest people who travel from show to show to win the money all the time.
It will cost just one more run time at a show and will bring excitement and the equal CHANCE to almost everybody to win a cashback. Dont know if it works out or not, we will see.
Also I thought about a "dB Lottery".
So we set a number between 121 and 126 with a dice at the beginning of a show. Then everybody has ONE shot wihtin 30 seconds to come as close as possible. Just burps allowed, no rolling up to the needed point.
Whatever, I know its not a regula dB Drag/Bass Race thing, but we all saw that there is something to be added. Some games some fun without limitations or requirements.
We even can do that on the side with a seperate TermLab or whatever so that we do not disturb the show itself.
Just finding "cheap" and "efficient" ideas here...

PS.: Some of you may know that I uploaded some videos (pooor quality) form the 2000 finals on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zLJMF2rhbQ I will implement them when I find time.

Those vids looked great. I see manufacturer support and spectator turnout has declined greatly since those days. To me it seems like common sense that those two go hand in hand. If you want manufacturers to show up then give them people to advertise to (spectators). If you want spectators to show up then give them something to spectate like manufacturer booths, show cars, demo vehicles, bikini contest, wet t-shirt contest, models, games, eating contests, etc.
Spectators aren't gonna come out and pay to get in just watch some spl cars go "burp". That stuff is boring. Manufacturers aren't gonna come out and pay to set up booths, demo vehicles, & models if there aren't any spectators. Bring back the party and bring back the fun.

Great vidz Wayne! Thanks for compiling them here for us to see.
From my perspective, as I have never been a paid member, I am disheartened when I visit our forum. Most of the posts any more are just people bitching and pointing out what others are doing wrong.
Go into any of the Finals threads whether its U.S., Europe, or Brazil, you get a few cool pics and then 6+ pages of folks calling ea. other cheaters, bad mouthing Judges, putting down other competitors etc...
For this org to get out of its rut and back to what it used to be we first have to take a long look at ourselves and quite blaming Wayne and everyone else for its demise.
It all starts with the competitors and how they conduct themselves in the lanes and out.

What girls getting wet in slow motion? J/K. Same for me also. I really want to come out of retirement but need to know what the rules are going to be before I start my build.
